Common vs. Uncommon Experiences From Growing Up Uncut

I am intact and grew up in America, where I only ever knew one other guy around my age who also had a foreskin.

Recently, that has made me think about how many penis-related experiences I had growing up that were uncommon, because I was an outlier.

Some examples:

  • I was anxious to get changed in front of other boys, so I was totally disengaged from locker room talk (and, even to a degree, from playing sports or doing much swimming).
  • If I walked up to a urinal at the same time as a friend, I freaked out about the amount of time I needed to tweak the position of my foreskin before and after peeing.
  • I absolutely never flashed anyone my dick as a joke or in a "I'll show you mine" situation.
  • In health class, diagrams of penises often didn't include a foreskin at all.
  • People would joke anything that looked like a mushroom looked like a dick, whereas to me I considered a dick shape to be something much more smooth/tapered.
  • I never understood all the "lotion" jokes about jerking off, and even once I understood them I never cared or thought they were funny.

I could list a lot more examples. But, I want to hear your examples!

If you grew up intact somewhere that was majority circumcised, what penis-related experiences made you feel like you were the outlier?

If you grew up somewhere where almost everyone was uncut, I'm also very interested in your experiences - because I can't even imagine it!

What are some common experiences growing up in a majority intact culture? Especially if you were around other boys often or in locker room situations, which is where a lot of my differences emerge.

The only comparison I can make is that for me growing up in a circumcised culture, when we hit puberty every guy would joke about having lotion on their nightstand as the coded way to talk about masturbation. It went right over my head, because... why need lotion? It was cultural context that made no sense to me, and I assume it wouldn't be the go-to joke in an uncut culture.

So, what were those moments like for you? I don't even know what kind of examples to give, but a few things I've wondered:

  • When kids joke about things that looked like dicks, was it still mushrooms?
  • Was it common knowledge that people paused to adjust their foreskin before peeing?
  • Did all of your anatomy and health classes include information on foreskins?
  • Were smegma jokes common, since everyone might have it?

If you grew up intact somewhere that was majority uncircumcised, what common experiences can you think of where foreskins were referenced, acknowledged, or part of a common expression or shared joke? I'd love to hear them!
