FBI headquarters in DC, 1981 or ‘82

This is something I’ve always wondered about. In 8th grade, ‘81 or ‘82, my class took a field trip to DC. One of our activities was a tour of the FBI headquarters. One of the things we got to see was a lab worker, in all white protective gear, in a white room, over a white table, carefully scraping off a dirty VW car mat. I was fascinated. I decided then and there that’s what I wanted to do - forensics, although I didn’t know the name for it at the time.

(Spoiler alert - when I looked at colleges later on, I saw how much chemistry was involved, and I knew sadly it was not to be).

Knowing what I know now, could this have been Ted Bundy’s VW? I’ve tried to look into a timeline, but I’m still not sure. Would this have been too early or late?

Best white pizza in Pittsburgh?

I am absolutely craving white pizza - olive oil, garlic, tomato slices, lots of cheese. I prefer thin crust. If you like this pizza, what are your favorite places? Thank you!

Academic librarians who have moved away from binding journals - can you share your experience?

We still subscribe to over 100 academic journals, and spend a few thousand each year binding issues for long-term sustainability. We are looking to save money though, and we're not sure this process is still necessary.

If you have transitioned away from this, do you have any recommendations/thoughts, etc.? Thank you!

Edit: I didn't mean to include only academic librarians - please, any type of librarian/library - I'd love to hear your thoughts.

Question about NB sausage

Hello! So I grew up visiting my grandparents in NB every year, for our family reunion. Our family would come from all over, and everyone would lose their mind over the sausage, I’m pretty sure it was from NB smokehouse.

I don’t want to offend anyone here! But I couldn’t stand this sausage. And trust me when I say I have never met a sausage I didn’t like, until then. I’m so curious to know if there was an ingredient in this that I don’t like? Sadly, they’re not around for me to ask specifically what type it was. But evidently it was THE sausage to get in NB? Honestly, some people would ask if it was going to be served before they committed to attending lol

Book, most likely 2000 or after, about a woman whose fiancé goes missing after ocean swim

I thought this would be easy, but I’m not having luck with ChatGPT.

Woman’s boyfriend or fiancé goes missing after ocean swim. She then finds evidence he may be in Maine, and that he wasn’t who she thought he was. She finds him, and it turns out his sister is the antagonist. Not a happy ending.

Extra charge for ‘safe delivery’?

Ok, what is the deal with an extra charge for ‘safe delivery’? Also called ‘shipping protection ‘? I’ve only seen this with beauty products. Yes, it’s only a dollar or so, but I don’t see this anywhere else

Has Mona Yvette Nelson ever been considered in the Lane Bryant murders?

There is some speculation that Jonathan Foster might not have been her first victim. If the LB investigation has only ever focused on a male perp, it might have allowed her to stay under the radar.

I just can’t get over the uncanny resemblance of her to the police sketch.
