What do you want out of a game?

I see people with 800 hours complaining about how they ran out of content and the game is dying.

I see people who expect others to play a certain way and get mad when they don't.

I see some valid complaints too about bugs and cheaters.

Yeah the game doesn't have 500,000 concurrent steam players anymore. It's entirely fair to say the game is not as popular as it once was. That doesn't mean it's dying. It just means that people played the game and got their hundred hours or whatever and they moved on. It's still in the top 40 games on steam by player count. Meaning that it's still more popular than thousands and thousands of multiplayer games.

Why do you expect people that just play one game forever and ever? It's got to naturally drop over time.

So my questions are:

What do you really expect out of a $40 game? Do you really expect it to entertain you all day everyday for the rest of your life?

Do you really expect them to hire 10 times the staff and come out with a weekly update? A weekly new skin? A map every month? Has any company ever done this?

Are there any other games that do this in a better way?

Why does expectations for this game seem to be so high on this subreddit?
