No luck with oral Terbinafine
I went to a podiatrist who did a biopsy and the biopsy confirmed I had a type of fungus that could only be treated by the oral Terbinafine.
I did one round (3 months) and noticed some slight improvement in the color of the nail that grew in. Within days of ending the medication, the new nail that had grown in was completely infected. My doctor agreed that I could go on another round of oral Terbinafine and I’m not even seeing as good of results as the first round and I’m two and a half months through.
My doctor is unfortunately out of state so I looked for a new one and he said it’s not salvageable and can only be removed. He was also really unprofessional though, so I don’t know how much I trust his opinion. I’ve seen worse infections in this group that were cured and just don’t know what to believe/what steps to take next.
Has anyone had a similar experience? Or had the nail removed completely?
