Pregnancy Fibroids and Child's Health

TW: discussion of disability, miscarriage and trouble pregnancy

Edit: Thanks to everyone who shared. I guess I'm just lucky in the worst way lol. I'll be back if they find fibroids in my upcoming ultrasound.

This may not be a question that has an answer but I thought I would ask because Google is useless.

I am almost 40 and have had a diagnosis of PCOS since I was 16. The other day I went for a PAP and mentioned I had been having abdominal cramps (similar to menstrual cramps) for months. When she pressed down she said it felt stiff and thought I may have fibroids. I will be getting that fun ultrasound next week. When I wad talking to my mother about that, she mentioned she had fibroids while she was pregnant with me. She has also told me in the past that she had been bleeding and the doctors gave her specific instructions to stop me from being a miscarriage. I wouldn't be surprised if the two are connected. Anyways, I was wondering for those who had a fibroids while pregnant, did the doctor discuss potential health issues in your child's future. I'm a health mess (epilepsy, iih, pulmonary sarcoidosis, sinus issues including polyps, migraines, bipolar ii, anemia and pcos) and was curious if there was a connection. I was able to find information about fibroids impact on the fetus but almost nothing about what happens after birth. I thought coming to my fellows who have had the experience would be more knowledgeable. Thanks

Penny and Her Cousin are Besties

My baby Penny and her cousin River are best friends. She's also a huge cuddler. Today I caught them cuddling. This isn't the first time, but this is the first time that Penny didn't look like she was expecting to be moved lol.

New Seizures, Added Stresses and Higher Doses

Hey all,

Yestersay I had an annual appointment and got a T-Dap shot. My mother also got a Kyphoplasty and I do have some new meds and diagnosis. Well, this morning I was taking my meds and I felt an aura (mine is an odd taste in the mouth and then a pressure behind the eyes). I'm not sure how long I was out or if I fully lost consciousness, I just know that when I was more coherent (at least enough to take care of my mother) I struggled with talking and explaining things. I waited for my uncle who sometimes helps me with taking care of my mom, but by thr time I was coherent enough to email my neuroscientist I was drained.

Well, after writing him, going over new stresses (taking care of my mom post-surgery, updated medication and my own health issues) with him and his assistant I get more Keppra. Yay! However, while resting I'd wake up with my mouth twitching.

I'm still relatively new to all this and I know it can take a bit, but it was scary to have ot break through again. To go so long and not have one and then to be basically alone while one is happening. It's just...yeah. Anywho, hope others are better and I at least have a doctor who is supportive and quick to repsond

CBR and Comics in Kobo Clara

Hello Kobo Crew!

I upgraded to a Kobo Clara color around December last year. Like always, I adore it, but one reason I pushed to color vs Black and White was comic books (the other was images in books like the works of Brom). Has anyone used it for comic books or things in cbr format. How do they look? Are theg generally readable? Is zooming in to read text doable or does it make things hard? Any tips or advice would be appreciated. Kobos are easier on my eyes and make my neueo issues more manageable but I want to read comics too. Thanks!

New Diagnosis with Comorbidities

Hello all,

On Monday the 4th I went into the hos6for an EMU and on the 5th when I was fully off Keppra and half off Zonisamide I had a left temporal lobe onset seizure. It sucked, but what sucked the most was that this is part of a far too long list of issues. In 2023 I had what was possibly my first seizure. My roommate saw me, but it was more like an absence seizure and so she thought I was upset. I ended up falling and going to the hospital. After that I found myself with syrange headaches that left me confused and disoriented. I saw a neurologist and had CTs, MRIs, EEGs, MRVs and a Lumbar puncture. My pressure was high, I had a partially empty sella and consistent tinnitus so I was was told it was a new manifestation of my migraines and intracranial hypertension. Then im 2025 I had a clonic tonic seizure with tongue biting. My neurologist put me on Keppra and it was time for more tests, 6 months later I had another seizure behind the wheel of a car. This one started with the headache that I was told was a migraine and ended with me flipping my car with my mom in a ditch. She's still healing from the broken bones and I got more medicine and more epilepsy specialists.

While fighting to prove that this is more than a migraine I have also had to deal witb a myriad of other health issues. Some I have had since birth and some if I have had longer have not shown symptoms until after gastric bypass in 2022. Part of me sharing this list is because I just need others to see it, but also I'm curious if others have a significant amount of comorbidities as well.

Bipolar II

Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome

Intracranial Hypertension

Diabetes Type II (currently controlled)

Migraines

Panic Disorder

Pulmonary Sarcoidosis (and slightly enlarged lymph nodes in my throat as well)

Anemia

Epilepsy

Excessive Premature Ventricular Contractions (during my EMU the ekg was constantly beeping because the PVCs were high, and my doctor pointed out that PVCs can make a heart rate appear lower than it is-plus my meds)

Asthma/allergies
