Is This Reading Better?

WHEW! It’s been a while since my last post of this WIP. I got WIP fatigue looking at it and jumped to different projects but finally jumped back in today. Is the top wave reading better than the bottom one? The goal on the revised top wave was to have the blue/gray read as the water crashing and the white part reading as the wave calming down and those white bubbles when the frost settles. Thoughts?

Rip and Restitch

First time Frosty Rays user here 🙋🏻‍♀️

I finished this Surfers From Above canvas with 2 colors of frosty rays as the waves crashing and it’s just not sitting right with me. I feel like the waves are too thick and not giving the desired effect. I used the gathered stitch for them

Should I
A) Rip the white and stitch in a metallic
B) Rip the blue/gray and stitch in another fiber
C) Try a different type of stitch for the frosty rays
D) Keep it as is
E) (Any other suggestions welcome)

WIP

Working through the surfers from above canvas! Almost done with the water and then moving on the daunting part of trying out frosty rays for the first time on the wave crests. I wish I did reverse tent for the red/white stripes and pink surfboard for a cleaner shape but I’m in an anti-frog mood

Finished Instead of Frogged

Thanks to all who commented on my earlier post and gave me the feedback to finish instead of frog. Figured I’d share the finish here for Finish Friday!

My WIP to Finish Learnings:

  1. I’ll always start hating a background stitch because I’ve been staring at the color for too dang long
  2. No one will notice little flaws or mistakes like I will
  3. Use a photo editor to see if it’s the color I don’t like or if I have good contrast (thanks for the commenters for this amazing suggestion)
  4. Don’t be afraid of a loud background stitch - they can look beautiful!
  5. I am now obsessed with beading

Where To Sell Unworn Item

Hi all! My first Parke purchase was the Summerland collection and I was so excited. Unfortunately, one of the 2 sweatshirts I ordered doesn’t fit my body type right. I know these were final sale. Where can I reliably sell an unworn parke item? (I still have the official packaging, invoice, unworn item, etc)

Water and Frosty Rays

I’m working on this fun Surfers from Above canvas! I wanted to do a subtle wave stitch for the water since it’s the majority of the canvas to add some interest but I cannot find a stitch that is seeming right. Pictured is a reverse diagonal mosaic and then a variation of reverse diagonal mosaic

Second question, I’m using frosty rays for the first time (EEEP) on the parts of the wave where the ocean crests (gray and white lines). What is the best stitch for frosty rays to give that foamy effect? Or can anyone point me to a resource that shows best stitches for frosty rays?

Thank you so much :)

Frog or Finish

Advice needed! I’ve been stitching the background on this MJD martini. I bought the color in a rush and the more I stitch it, I’m not sure if I like the background color.

  1. Do we like the background color
  2. If not, is it worth ripping it all and trying something different?

Tulip Needles

Keep hearing a lot of people rave about tulip needles in comparison to the ones provided with canvas purchases. Are they really that much better? Why or why not?

First Finish

I finished my 2nd true canvas about a month ago and just got around to finally capital F finishing it (if framing counts as finishing)
I’ve found needlepoint to be extremely therapeutic especially in moments of anxiety and a great way to disconnect from my phone.

I didn’t block it so it is a bit warped but well loved

Learning To Mix Threads with Decorative Stitches

I’m newer to needlepoint (2.5 months hooked on it and this is my 6th canvas) and I have fallen victim to getting checkout happy when new canvases drop (I’m sure noneeee of us have ever been there).

I wound up ordering this beautiful canvas that I have no idea how I want to design. I want your input! Tell me what threads, what stitches, what creative genius you have. It was expensive help me make the end product worth the cash lol

Current ideas (13 mesh)

• very velvet for longhorn and boot
• silk lame or Frye works for margarita
• beading for cactus blossoms
• variegated blue thread in French knots for blue bonnets
• satin stitch in either silk or straw (?) for letters

I love me a speciality thread and a decorative stitch
