Simplifying Tank

Hey, just recently started to learn tank in general and wanted to make sure I understand the role, fundamentals and different playstyles (5v5 if that matters).

Unlike DPS or Support, I feel like my responsibilities aren't as clear on Tank compared to other roles.

From my understanding, creating/holding/fighting for space is my main objective.

If that's the case, is this also true for Dive Tanks?

Generally speaking, would you say to learn/play tanks based on the game mode and map?

For example Poke Tanks on maps with longer sightlines?

What are some absolute basic rules as Tank everyone should know and follow when they start playing Tank?

Like some common ones such as taking natural cover, don't peak wide when it's not necessary, move from cover to cover in the open etc.

What are the biggest differences in fundamentals compares to other rules and which apply for which playstyle (let's cluster them into Dive, Poke and Brawl for the sake of simplifying things for me).

Thanks in advance!

Hey there, I'm looking for friendly and competitve people to rank up with.

I'm currently Silver but I'm confident in my abilities to climb the lower ranks.

I play mainly flex support (Kiri, Juno, Illari, Ana, Bap) and some main support here and there, although there's definitely way more room to improve (Lucio, Brig, Wuyang Cat).

What do I look for specifically?

- Easy going people

- Playing afternoon / early evening CET

- Communication via Discord including voice chat

- Players understanding basic concepts of OW and their role & hero

- Voice chat communication (English or German)

- All roles are welcome (we can even duo support if we have a supplementary hero pool)

- Forming a group of people playing together regularly

Feel free to post here or send a DM.

You can also DM me on Discord (linkin.)
