War in Carcosa

Using spoilers just in case you haven't completed the story.

>!In the game you see buildings in ruins and on some occasions even active warfare such as turrets firing in the intro scene. Having read the complete set of data entries (like here: https://www.reddit.com/r/Saros/comments/1tek90y/i\_pieced\_together\_all\_the\_data\_bank\_entries\_and/) is this now the war between The Shepherd and The King? The Architect also sided with The King so I guess it's his cannons firing at the fortress against the rebellious Shepherd. Or is this something else we see in the game?!<

Closing thoughts

After rolling the credits I thought I should write something about this game. It's rare to play a game where moment to moment gameplay feels as good as in this one. Blowing up an enemy never fails to satisfy. I even enjoy the platforming sections. My favourite weapons are any of the rifles. But at the later stages my lackluster skills made me go with the revered repeating crossbow and reaping chakram. For power weapons prominence was the main choice but I did have fun with dispiritor at times.

The last biome felt like a proper challenge and I feel like design choices for it were really good. In Returnal I finished last biome in first try after struggling in biome 5 but here that last one was the greatest trial in the game for me.

Story and presentation were top notch. Arjun's arc touched me and as with Returnal leaving some room for interpretation works. World of Carcosa was intriguing although it didn't quite reach the level of Returnal. But the story bits at the later stages did work better I think.

Overall I just have to appreciate these kind of outlier works of passion that don't go with the mainstream and the easy choices. I often hear that many things were better in the past, be it music, movies or games. But the fact that I can play games like this, Returnal, Nier Automata, Death Stranding gives so much joy and makes me wonder what is there to come still.

The Sun is Forever.
