What's the most extreme example of the US military buying a large number of aircraft and then retiring them after a short time?

The early jet age had some good candidates.

What do you call this hole in the floor with a desk around it and what is it for?

From the movie "Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy" (2011) set in cold war era London so presumably 1973. The architecture probably dates back to decades earlier. I'm assuming this hole had a legitimate purpose in a bureaucratic setting for a spy organisation. I'm assuming it's not just a whim of the production designer such as seen in the movie Brazil (1985).

What do you predict will be in the future the "Mitch McConnell Rule"?

Based on something he did or said once or often that in the future will be called upon to legitimise a controversial action.

What, if any, American coaxial helicopter models have ever received an FAA type certificate?

There have been many prototypes but have any achieved the FAA type certificate? Part 27 or part 29.

Buffering even though player set to 420kps & 360p with server uploads at 600 kps

The server is at home. The player is my phone. When both are at home on wifi, there is no problem. When the phone is away, video plays for a few seconds then buffers for as many. I'm not sure if I've chosen all the proper settings in both the server and the player.

  • Server device, upload speed = 600 kps.
  • Player app, internet quality = 420 kps
  • Player app, max allowed vid trans res = 360 p
  • Player device, download speed = 27 mbs
  • Player device, upload speed = 1.2 mbs
  • The server device is plenty fast enough to transcode
  • Ive tried with the player's settings at "Auto" and there is still the problem.

I recognize that the only solution might be to upgrade the home internet's plan for a higher upload speed. I'm shopping. I don't mind low quality to save money on internet.

What do lawyers normally do (ex. give notice) when the initial retainer is spent?

I retained a lawyer. I don't have a question about the work being done. My question is about the billing. I paid a $5K retainer. I assumed that I would get a notice when the retainer is spent. As of today, the amount of work I expected to be done under the retainer has not be done and yet I'm getting a bill for $5K more. If I had gotten a notice back at the $5k level, I might have decided to switch lawyers given the quality of the work. Now that I'm at the $10k level and so little work has been done, it doesn't feel right and I feel cornered. Is this normal behavior for a lawyer? Is it just my fault for not asking for notification?

Help: Windows service stops after a few seconds after upgrade from 10.10 to 10.11

  • Jellyfin server AMD64 10.10 was working fine as a service on Win10.
  • Downloaded Jellyfin server AMD64 10.11.11 and installed to update.
  • The first time, it ended with an error of type 'could not start service'. I hit retry and it went away. But, when I looked at the services list, the service was stopped. I started it but it stopped silently after a few seconds.
  • The second time, I launched the 10.11.11 exe installer as admin. It ended without error but the service was stopped. I started the service but it stopped after a few seconds.
  • The log file receives no new lines from the service starting and stopping. The last lines date back to before the update.

Where (ex. link to a YouTube vudeo) is a video of a crew, from first thing in the morning, until the actors get "action".

Seeing people explain their process, making decisions, making tests. Setting up equipment.

Some movies can't have an obvious sequel because, for example, everybody dies or the device is destroyed. A harder find is a movie that has by its nature both no obvious prequel and sequel.
