Question about VPD impact for VSI MINT (Studienkolleg) admission with lower school GPA but strong test results
Hi everyone,
I have a question regarding how much the VPD actually matters when applying for VSI MINT (Studienkolleg, T-Kurs).
My situation is a bit confusing to me.
I will likely have a VPD around ~2.9 (based on my Russian school grades). However, I come from a very strong mathematics-focused school (considered one of the top 10 in Russia), where getting a high GPA is actually quite difficult due to the grading system and competition.
At the same time, I have additional results:
- TestAS (paper-based): 160 points
- TestDaF (digital): 3-3-3-4
- Goethe B2
So my question is:
How heavily does VPD influence admission to VSI MINT compared to other factors like language certificates and TestAS results?
Also, I’m a bit unsure how VPD is interpreted in general. It feels like it mainly reflects school grading systems rather than actual ability. In a different, less competitive school, the same level of performance would probably result in a much higher GPA.
So I’m trying to understand:
- Is VPD the main filter for admission?
- Or are language skills and TestAS equally or more important for Studienkolleg admission?
Thanks in advance for any clarification.
