I’m so excited!

So I have recently started a Bachelor of Science degree majoring in Botany and I’ve discovered the Droseraceae family because we have some native species in New Zealand!

I went on a site called TradeMe, I think it is local to New Zealand for buying and trading items, and someone was selling 20 Drosera binata seeds for $8! I’m so excited to grow them!

Any help or tips to look after these would be so helpful! I’m tempted to ask the botany department if I can grow them in our greenhouses for more chance 😂 I know our native species do well with a mix of perlite and sphagnum moss with a lot of moisture.

Any other help would be much appreciated 🌱

Minor options?

Hello everyone!

I am 29 and I have decided I love plants so much I need to study Botany so that’s what I’m doing! I’m currently in the first year of my Bachelor of Science as a Botany major.

My question is, I want to do a minor that relates to Botany well and can move me in the direction of either doing large scale forest restoration projects, or research on how climate change is effecting our plants. I currently have a minor in Ecology set up but I have plenty of time to change it. I have considered Geology but I’d love some input from people in the field.

Thanks so much everyone 💚

I’m 29 and just got accepted to study a Bachelor of Science in Botany minoring in Ecology

Hey everyone!!

Oh my goodness I just got accepted into University at 29 years old, I’ve finally discovered my passion for conservation and it has been building for the past 5 years or so.

I’m extremely nervous but so excited as I live in New Zealand so it’s such a wonderful place to study these topics. Please give me any advice! I have been working full time for the past 10 years or so and need tips about getting back into study. I am so worried I’m not smart enough to do this. Hype me up and let me know your stories about doing a degree later in life!

Low blood pressure please help

Has anyone had low blood pressure because of cab? I’ve been on it for 3 weeks and I’ve all of a sudden gotten really sick tonight and I think it might be hypotension.. I’m so dizzy, lightheaded and nauseous. Should I go to the ER? I’m very stressed 😪

Hello everyone,
I have just been diagnosed today with an 8x7mm adenoma. My endocrinologist says that the only 2 symptoms from a prolactinoma are breast secretion and no periods.. I said my biggest struggle is fatigue and he said you don’t get that symptom from a pituitary adenoma, which seems wrong considering everyone’s posts.
I also get headaches, anxiety/depression, dizziness, mood swings, trouble sleeping, weight gain, hot flashes etc. he is monitoring my thyroid as he believes there may be an issue there as well (possible early signs of Hashimoto’s) but I just feel like the prolactinoma causes more than just 2 symptoms. I got prescribed 0.5mg of cabergoline for management of my levels and hopefully shrinkage of the adenoma.
Please let me know your thoughts on symptoms and how your cab experience has been!
