Pokémon Fossil Museum X Field Museum Chicago Preview 2026

Yesterday I attended a free early preview of The Pokémon Fossil museum x Field. Attached a few limited photos for context.

When the collaboration was announced last year I was excited and eager to visit the Field Museum in Chicago. Pokémon in my book holds a nostalgic place.

The time has come! I was happy to experience the Fossil Exhibit which demonstrated a cool twist on animation art and fossils.

Ultimately I would say this collaboration between Pokemon X field is successfully done. Great historical juxtaposition between imagination and reality with the use of anatomy and real fossils found in the exhibit!

Not just for the kids, but I’m sure there are going to be plenty age groups! New x Nostalgia. Will you be checking it out?

Pokémon Fossil Museum X Field Museum Chicago Preview 2026: Exhibit, Merch, Plushie

Yesterday I attended the early preview of The Pokémon Fossil museum x Field. I attached a few photos to get you guys excited!
(Repost, accidentally deleted) So! I’ve added a few new photos to the set!

When the collaboration was announced last year I was excited and eager to visit the Field Museum in Chicago. Pokémon in my book holds a nostalgic place! I was happy to experience the exhibit which exhibited a cool twist on fossils.

Exhibit:
Colorfully lit with expert lighting and plaques. There are a few ‘Pokémon paleontologists’ located throughout the exhibit which adds a few interactive elements (touching replica fossils of the T-Rex Sue). They utilize in some waypoints a contrast of Pokémon fossils to real fossils which brings you back into reality in a good way. (I was kind of hoping to see someone running around in a Pokémon mascot costume? lol that’s just the whimsy speaking)
Tickets are museum entry + a timed Pokemon Fossil Museum ticket I am not aware of the pricing as this was a private free event.

Gift shop:
I bought a few things from the ‘Pokémon Fossil Museum store’. They had these interesting tyrantrum and aerodactyl sets with skeletal insides and the Pokémon’s shell I believe. Many pieces from the looks of the box lol. I was limited 5 items per customer and some items were limited 1 per customer (tyrantrum and aerodactyl Pokémon). Exclusive to the fossil museums (previously in Japan pointed out by a previous redditor).

Upon checking out they have the Pikachu excavator plushie retails for $29.99 USD, and the sets $49.99 USD which we received 10/15% off from the original retail value. Good news the Plushie can be purchased from the pokemon center for a limited time.

Overall, I think it’s really exciting to see a franchise from your childhood be reimagined. They did an excellent job! I wouldn’t definitely say this is geared towards just kids because the museum has so many world class offerings!

I was limited 5 items per customer and some items were limited 1 person customer ( T-Rex and pterodactyl Pokémon). I believe those sets were also the only things that said they were exclusive to the location ( this is noted in the sign ).
