I built the Molie from das musikding. The led and pedal turns on, the potentiometer and the effect work. But instead of it being a clean bass boost there is some weird distortion sound on top sounding a bit farty.

I'm want to start pedal building and wanted to do an easy piezo preamp as a start project because I have some diy contact mics and it felt like a good project to start with.

I know it's probably not the best preamp to do but it seemed very easy to start with.
Just the switch and the 9v battery are different from the video but otherwise pretty much same.
No sound is coming through it (switch was on on the left when I tested it). Could it be the soldering that broke some of the part or is there a mistake in the way I assembled everything?
I also had taped everything with insulating tape to test it so it cannot be that anything touched the box, made sure of that. I also checked that the positive side of the 100uf capacitor was put right. I don't have a voltmeter yet so cannot really test it more in details. I also exchanged the Transistor once in case I had overheated the first one.
