Sertraline experience with autism

Hey guys!

Just wanted to share my experiences for anyone else on the spectrum (or not) who’s considering starting Sertraline. I’m only 3 months in with a 50mg dose, but it has made such a difference!

Before, I was depressed and burnt out. I didn’t eat or shower consistently, work was a challenge, I barely had a social life and I literally did nothing because I had zero energy.

Week 0-2 was bad, I won’t lie. I was so nauseous I couldn’t eat much of anything and I was tired and super brain foggy.

Week 3-6 was pretty neutral. I started having crazy dreams, but had no symptoms apart from that. I started to think the meds weren’t working near the end of Week 6.

Then around Week 7, I woke up one day and it felt like my brain had just clicked into place. And it’s been getting better week by week.

I have enough energy to cook properly. I’ve been eating. I can shower, do my skincare and brush my teeth consistently. I’ve been going outside more. I literally did a five mile walk last weekend where I picked blackberries and made a crumble. I wouldn’t have been able to even get out of the house three months ago.

There are a few cons. I can’t drink more than two pints in a night or I get a crippling hangover. I’m hot all of the time. My period has changed. But honestly, these cons are so small compared to how much better I‘m living now!

If anyone wants to ask any questions, feel free to comment.
