Timeline to hire is 10 weeks?? (US)
Hi there,
I’m applying for a commercial side role, I’ve already had 2 interviews (screening/recruiting, even though the first guy said there would only be 3 total), and that I will hear next week about if the hiring manager wants to set a time. 2 technical interviews, and then one with the partner.
Do they always take it weeks at a time in between interviews? Why is that the case? Could they do multiple interviews in a week?
Also, I was told no actual technical skills would be tested or shown during these meetings, only discussing technical specs (this is a hands on AI deployment role, I have build many dozens of AI products by hand). The interviewer/recruiter really didn’t seem to have any idea what she was even talking about, congratulating having done 70 projects with AI but saying she wasn’t sure if I had AI experience?
Anyways, given an estimated 3 more weeks to interview, plus another 3 more weeks for background check, plus maybe an extra delay for the offer letter, am I seriously going to not get this process done (if accepted and not rejected for not meeting demographic specs) until Thanksgiving/end of November? I started this process 3 weeks ago. 9-10 weeks to onboard is insane. Is the process ever shorter?
Is it always this long? I recall it being maybe 3-4 weeks and then 2 weeks for verification after the offer letter. Is this standard or is this just an upper bound? Who exactly has the time to cross their fingers and pray they’ll land the just for 10 weeks
And also, hate to ask, but how prominent is DEI a factor in decisions these days? How prominent is gatekeeping people with demonstrable skills (yes I know how it sounds but I have 70+ live projects anyone can go look at)? I keep hearing horror stories on this Reddit so I just want to know the honest good bad and ugly
Thank you
