I sat in my parked car for ten extra minutes just to listen to the rain on the roof.

I pulled into my driveway after a long commute right as a heavy downpour started. Instead of unbuckling and sprinting inside to stay dry, I turned off the engine, left the radio silent, and just sat there in the dark listening to the rain drumming against the windshield.

It felt like a peaceful little isolation chamber. By the time the rain eased up, the stress from the workday was completely gone.

I started leaving my kitchen counter completely empty before going to sleep, and mornings feel noticeably calmer.

I used to leave clean dishes drying on the rack and mail piled by the microwave overnight. A few days ago, i spent 5 mins putting every single thing away so the counter was completely clear before bed. Walking into a totally clean kitchen first thing in the morning with coffee felt unexpectedly refreshing.

Do you have any small evening habits that make your morning routine feel smoother?
