What editing skills are transferable to other jobs?

Hey, one less person out of the job pool I guess! After my layoff at the start of the month and thinking about my future and the film industry as a whole, it’s becoming clear that this won’t be a job I retire from. This is all I spent the last 20 years doing and can’t think of how to sell my experience in another field. I’ve worked solo on projects, and in big company teams managing creative director and client notes and expectations.

Are there editors here that have made a career change? What did you transfer too? My big issue is going back to school is out, I have too many loans since i went to film school( I know I know). I don’t mind starting over, I just have no idea how to make my experience applicable to other jobs. Any advice is appreciated.

Is starting at 40 realistic?

I’m sure this question gets asked a lot but not sure who else to ask. I’m 40 and looking for a career change but i can’t afford a school. This would be a huge change for me coming from a desk job I know that but I’m mostly wondering if anyone would even hire me at 40? I actually help taking care of my disabled mother so i’ve seen it all. Diapers, cleaning, moving from bed to chair, but i worry I’m too old for this job and it will hard to start given my age. I also don’t know if i can use taking care of my mother as experience. Do people retire from this job? Idk sorry for the long post but I’m kind of lost and I do want to help people but just not sure what to do.

i feed my cats a blend of taste of the wild and hills diet kibble to cut down on cost, but the price of hills diet has increased too much for me. wondering if there are similar, lower cost choices to swap out the hills diet with? is taste of the wild even good food to have anyway? i want to cut down on cost but try to keep as much quality food in their diet as possible.
