Is it worth fixing the stripped bracket on this desk shelf?

A small two tier desk shelf started wobbling badly because one of the corner brackets loosened and pulled out of the particle board. A cheap replacement is only around $25, so my initial thought was just throwing it out and buying another one.

I decided to take the bracket off first with a hoto pixeldrive to see if the core crumbled completely or if only the screw holes stripped. The wood around the hole is still mostly intact, so filling it with wood glue and wooden dowel pieces might give the original hardware enough grip to bite back in.

Does this kind of glue repair actually hold up under daily use, or is stripped particle board usually not worth the hassle?

i had a chair i loved looking at and apparently hated sitting in

When we first moved in, i spent way too much time trying to make the living room look finished.

i had a ridiculous number of pinterest saves, kept changing my mind about wall colors, and cared way too much about whether every piece of furniture "fit".

There was one chair I was especially proud of. low wood frame, cream cushion, right next to the window. I remember looking at that corner and thinking okay, finally. this is what I wanted.

and then basically nobody sat there.

It wasn't awful or anything. The seat was just shallow, there was nowhere to put your head, and after a little while one of us would usually end up moving to the couch anyway.

Eventually I realized the chair had basically become decor. Like a lamp or a plant, except it was taking up enough room for an actual person.

for some reason that started bothering me way more than I expected. I'd spent all this time trying to make the apartment feel like somewhere we wanted to live, and one whole corner was mostly just something I liked looking at.

So I got rid of it.

I still didn't want to put something huge and ugly there just because it was comfortable, so I looked around for a while and eventually replaced it with a nouhaus chair.

Now one of us is actually in that corner most nights. reading, watching something, doing absolutely nothing for a bit. whatever.

That's probably the weirdest part in hindsight. I used to walk past the old chair every day and think it looked good. It genuinely took me way too long to notice that neither of us ever chose to sit in it.

now when one of us is sitting there, I kind of can't believe I kept the old chair for so long just because it looked good.
