Crashing - but only once a country has been selected and clicking start
the image shows the bug that happens. This screen is frozen exactly like this.
I'm running into a frustrating issue with Victoria 3 where I can load into the country selection map and hit "Start", but as soon as the main game finishes loading, one of two things happens:
- The display turns completely black, but the Victoria 3 mouse pointer is still working and visible. Clicking the mouse also makes the v3 mouse sound.
- The main map loads, but the top and bottom toolbars freeze mid-animation as they slide into view and i get random quite big black squares on the screen. I even once had my flag icon turn into the pink unhappy placeholder face lol.
Weirdly, This issue only happens on the second time i launch the game. If I do a fresh reinstall, the game plays fine for one session. The next time I launch it, it crashes/freezes again. Deleting the cache also lets me play exactly once before the issue returns.
My PC seems to be working fine whilst V3 is crashed, with my second monitor working fine (I'm actually writing this post while looking at the black screen on monitor 1).
Ive verified integrity of the game files as well.
Having to reinstall the game every time I want to play is getting pretty annoying! Has anyone encountered this or found a permanent fix? Any advice would be appreciated.
