Just like regular looking people, who aren't insanely gorgeous Hollywood actors. It would make the acting more convincing and everything would be so much more authentic

Could be a song, a painting, a poem etc. You just take your raw experience and give it form. And then that allows other people to look at it. That's why some art 'resonates' with you. You look at it and see a part of your own life reflected back at you
