ATC Rating Training

Hi all,
I’m looking to do my S1 training. I registered my interest with VATSIM UK, but from what I’ve read the waiting list to start training is currently around two years, which is a bit longer than I’d hoped.
After looking at my VATSIM account, it seems I’m not actually assigned to a division or subdivision yet (just EMEA), so I’m wondering if it’s worth joining another division instead.
Does anyone know what the current waiting times are like in VATMENA (Arabian vACC), VATSIM Scandinavia, VATSIM Germany, or any other Northern European divisions? I’m happy to control outside the UK if it means I can start training sooner.
Any advice or recent experiences would be much appreciated. Thanks! 😊

SayIntentions vs BeyondATC

Firstly, I know this is something that’s been discussed a million and one times in great detail, however I’d like to discuss it with people for myself!
I prefer to fly on vatsim for the authentic ATC experience but I’m mostly only able to fly late evening/at night when ATC coverage is sparse.
So I want to be able to play with a vatsim-like atmosphere all the time even if I’m not on the network.
I’m willing to get over the fact that SayIntentions is a subscription model if (and only if) it is genuinely better than beyondATC, and if the other features SayIntentions adds are worth the money and aren’t just a gimmick.
Any input worth making will be greatly appreciated!

Finally managing vatsim flights!

I’ve dipped in and out of flightsim for a couple of years and vatsim always felt way out of my depth. I’d watch streams and videos and think there’s no way I could do that without completely embarrassing myself.
Spent the last couple of weeks learning startup flows, mcdu stuff, watching vatsim streams to get used to phraseology etc and eventually just thought screw it, may as well give it a go.
Not gonna lie I struggled at first. Even just asking for clearance took me ages because I was overthinking everything. But once I got talking to ATC it actually started to feel pretty natural.
I still made loads of mistakes during the flights but I’m just focusing on the fact I managed to do full flights with full ATC having absolutely zero experience talking on frequency before. No AI ATC or in-game ATC beforehand either.
If anyone’s putting off vatsim because they think they’re not good enough or confident enough, absolutely just go for it. It’s a lot less intimidating than it seems, the controllers are always helpful and patient (most importantly for me 😂).

Also the zero visibility landing into Frankfurt was stressful but made it even more fun somehow.
