Laundry etiquette?

Hi guys!

I was just curious how common is it for people to set timers and leave their laundry running?

Or do people at depaul typically stay with their items?

I just want to know because I've heard mixed opinions.

Vent post | seeking advice on navigating this weird dynamic

My dad had an inappropriate relationship with our dog groomer + now my mom is on a dating app.

Hello!

I'm F18, recently I graduated from high school. However, about half way through the year, about 3 cop cars pull up to my house around 10:30pm and tell me and my mom that my dad has a protective order against him. Obviously it's a WTF moment and I'm in utter shock. My dad says some weird shit to throw me off like, "I'm a dom", etc. Then my mom is like wth. Mind you it was a tuesday night in the middle of winter, and i had about 3 tests lined up for me the next day. I took a raincheck at school and went to the counselors office for two periods to get my thoughts together because i felt like my whole world went sideways. Literally the worst time to have all of this happen. Fast foward a couple of weeks, I got over it and my dad had a court appointment, and my mom says they decided not to separate for now. Mind you, they both have not told me a single thing, and my mother claimed she doesn't really know the context of whatever happened either because my dad "doesn't want to talk about it". My mom let him be, the case gets dismissed and set to a later date....turns out at that later date, the order of protection gets extended to a year, and now I'm not allowed to stop anywhere otw to work because the woman my father decided to innapropriately interact with, gave him a restraining order. I know there's reasons to all of these things, but like I said I know basically nothing even now all the way in August.

My parents repeatedly told me they aren't separating or getting a divorce but I can't help but think they are just straight up lying or at least my mom is. I resent my dad, and he knows it. He completely ruined the family dynamic (I was literally considered a daddy's girl, my whole life). Now all I feel is disgust when I hear the word family.

I mainly keep quiet about this and I only told my friends: my parents were speculating divorce and that I was mad at my dad--- nothing more. Mainly because I didn't want my friends to think differently of me, or be scared of my dad. Because getting involved with the police is just taboo for my family in general and a lot of my friends. Also not to mention 4 cop cars came by 2 weeks before my graduation because the police didn't properly file my dad's ownership of a gun to my mom so it wasnt in his possesion. Yhey stayed there for like 40 mins after the fact making 67 and brainrot jokes...gotta love america. And now i'm embarassed to interact with my neighbors anymore.

Also since it was our dog groomer, for the past 6 months months I've been forced to go with my dad to groom our 2 dogs, every 2 weeks because of what he did. Genuinely don't know why I have to get punished for his shitty actions.

As to what sent me here to vent is something recently with my mom. In the past couple of weeks my mom was being really petty on her work calls about my dad, "like saying im gonna find my new man" etc. (She works from home). Their anniversary is coming up and she is talking about getting a new dress etc, but the thing is I feel like its preformative. I wasn't afraid to tell her either, I even questioned her and said "do you even like that man? (My father). She said yes, but no reason for you (me) to be so shady.

Guess what reddit. She went to show me a tiktok video the other day, and accidentally switched tabs when she flipped her phone to a certain dating app the rhymes with cringe. I pretended to not know what it was and said, "its not on the right screen" but in my head I was telling myself whoever "Todd" is ugly as shit, and I hope I'm just seeing shit. She seemed to semi-brush it off with an "oh." I take lying somewhat seriously because I can always tell when people are lying to me. So obviously seeing my mom on H-inge, after repeatedly saying she's fine, her and my dad aren't separating, im so excited for our anniversary. Is utter bull and shit. And I'm frustrated because I was originally mentally preparing myself for divorce, was told it wasn't happening, and now I see this shit? Anyways family actually does mean a lot to me so stuff like this hits me somewhat hard. Dynamics change with situations like these, and that's something I feel but keep being told is not happening.

So yeah that's what I've bottling up for about 6-7 months. I apologize for the lack of grammar and terrible storytelling, I just really needed to vent.
