Looking for vegan cheese recommendations

I've been vegetarian since I was 8 (was an easy move as my family only ate meat about once a week) but despite considering it a few times, never had the willpower to become vegan due to liking cheese.

I've recently found out that I have some sort of intolerance to cheese (maybe mild lactose intolerance) so should really stop having it, and whilst I know a few animal-based lactose-free cheeses do exist, I'd rather look for a plant-based one if I'm having to change my diet anyway.

The few times I've tried vegan cheese in cafes/restaurants I've generally found it to have little taste and ended up feeling slightly sick (I'm generally quite sensitive to more heavily processed foods as I didn't grow up with them and have never been used to them). My main alternatives to cheese (e.g. to have with pasta) tend to be hummus or peanut butter, but I'd get tired of them if I have them all the time.

So I'm wondering if anyone has any good recommendations on vegan cheeses that taste as "natural" as possible (not necessarily having the same taste as dairy cheese, I don't mind trying new things, but just not tasting like something that's very processed). Thanks in advance!

U-turn on Abolish Landlords policy

I'm surprised I haven't seen this discussed yet-

It was less than a year ago that the Green Party conference passed the Abolish Landlords policy, which commits to attempting to phase out private landlordism and only support council housing as a form of rental accommodation.

And yet in the Greater Manchester mayoral by-election the party is campaigning on the exact opposite: https://www.politicshome.com/news/article/greens-target-unease-gentrification-labour-manchester-mayoral-race

They are campaigning in favour of "affordable housing targets", which are a legal mechanism of forcing house developers to sell large numbers of new houses directly to landlord companies at a discount, without ever being offered to the public/on the open market.

How is it that less than a year after committing to phasing out private landlordism, Polanski is openly supporting forcing developers to prioritize selling at a discount to private landlords? Isn't there usually a mechanism for stopping leaders from going against established party policy?

Why isn't there a green candidate in the Arbroath by-election?

I find it quite odd that of the three parliamentary by-elections on 18 June- the two very competitive ones Makerfield (Labour vs Reform race) and Aberdeen South (SNP vs Tory race) both have Green candidates, but Arbroath (very safe SNP seat with no meaningful challenger) does not.

Surely Arbroath would have been the best of the three to throw resources at given there's no meaningful chance of a right-wing candidate getting in so it would have been a very good chance to run a campaign purely on the Green Party's merits without losing many possible voters to tactical voting.

Greens did respectably in the list vote in the similar seat of Dundee City East in the 2026 Scottish Parliament election (SNP 35%, Lab 16%, Ref 15%, Grn 14%) so it would at least have been worth having a go even if a long shot... But instead there's no Green candidate at all, and apparently no discussion of that, and nominations are now closed so the opportunity is lost.

Anyone know why this is?

(also interesting to note that I've seen absolutely nobody accusing the Greens of being a proxy for the SNP for standing aside- quite the stark comparison with some of the comments made about Makerfield when standing aside was being discussed there)
