I am trying to wrap my head around sandboxed google play services

I just installed GOS last night on a pixel 8a and am wanting to use the phone as degoogled as possible. The main google service I still use is gmail, but I can always access that on a computer.

Well I have a few other apps that aren't on f-droid or anything. Apps like clash of clans, banking apps (can probably just use a computer though), paypal, discord (like 80% of how I talk to friends) pikmin bloom, etc. Would I just need to use the google play store for these?

I've read that sandboxed google play services basically means that it acts as an actual app without superuser privileges, but like what does that mean? If I install it and the play store, would google be tracking me 24/7 just like before?

How do you all back up your immich libraries?

I am running my immich server in docker compose on OMV 8. I already have an rsync set up backing up the docker container. Honestly I mainly want to backup my immich library for all the images I take on my phone that gets uploaded. I don't really need anything crazy, just the original files that I can re upload if my hard drive ever dies.

I am looking to manually backup ever couple of months or so to an external hard drive that I don't keep on/plugged in.

I have read the docs and it kinda seems like I can just copy paste my library folder and backups folder. But then Ive read that I also need postgres??

So what would be a simple way to run a manual backup onto an external hard drive that I don't keep plugged in, once every couple of months, like what all needs to be copied over? I have about 35 GB of photos and videos

My drain pipe broke off. How should I fix it?

Hopefully this is the right sub.

A couple days ago I had a tree removed from my property and I guess while it was happening something fell and broke off my drain. I'm not exactly sure what it does other than let water drain out of my system which looks like that's happening as the base is wet. Does it drain while it's running or when it cuts off?

I think I remember seeing a pipe coming off it with the trap at the bottom, but my unit is so close to the ground I think it was buried.

How should I go about fixing this? Would a tray work or is it required to attach another pipe to it? And if I need a pipe, would I just need it to be straight along the edge of it with the water trap? Would it be fine if it was fixed next weekend or should I try to do it now?

I currently have about 400 movies on my server and a good amount are blu ray. Currently I just use the mkv files for blu rays and they are 20-50 GB each. I am looking to test out handbrake to see if I can get the file size down but still have near blu ray 1080p quality.

With some research it seems there is no one size fits all for handbrake settings. So what are some settings you all make sure to select for 1080p blu ray and 480p dvd rips?

Would using handbrake in this way make it easier to stream movies away from home?

I have read that in handbrake I need to transcode with my cpu even though it is slower, so that you get the best quality.
