I just learned how to drive recently and just got my first car back in April. I’m on my own out here, and am WAY too nervous to try driving a uhaul. I don’t even know where I’d start. But I’ve been living on an air mattress for like 5 months now and it has a hole in it now and I’m tired of living in an empty box.

However, I’m too poor to buy new furniture and my little Hyundai accent cannot fit a bed or a dresser or a sofa and really anything honestly. It’s just too small.

I can’t really afford movers, and even if I could, hiring multiple to go to different places or one person to go to multiple places feels like a lot. Does anyone have know how i can get furniture to my apartment?

I’ve tried to read this book multiple times over the course of several years and I’m never able to make it more than maybe 15%. I wasn’t sure why until I tried to read it (again) today and the alpha princes have done nothing but complain about how it’s such an insult to their kingdom that the omega princes never get off the ship and how they need heirs and protection and blah blah blah, then Raine, the protagonist and a prince of a well known and powerful kingdom, steps off the ship and they’re like “Oh let’s give him a show!” And show up dirty, bloody, and unkempt. Then two of them just walk out without even speaking to him and the last on is like “He’ll do.” As if this prince, the thing they’ve been so morose about lacking, is somehow not good enough based on the literally 30 seconds of silence they spent together…

What???

I’m GENUINELY just confused. Maybe this is why I always DNF it, but I don’t understand this choice from the author. Do they not want this prince bc people in the past never gave their kingdom a chance?? How does that track? Like what’s the point of complaining that no one ever gets off the ship when you just do this the moment someone gives you a chance?

If someone has insight on this particular choice I’d appreciate it, bc I REALLY wanna give this book a shot but this writing choice has me, once again, ready to shelve it 💀

The basic premise was this guy like, dies or something? It was a bit unclear, and is sent into a fictional/alternate universe where he is a lynx shifter, has a panther shifter mate, gave birth to a son, and they’re all (presumably) cavemen.

It was mpreg, and the guy that was sent to the AU is possessing the body of himself in that universe, but he was abusive and mean to his son, mate, and really everyone.

Now, he’s adjusting to life in this new family, reestablishing trust with his loved ones, and is, generally, living a better life I believe.

Looking for something where one of the MCs has some terrifying, long lost, or forbidden ability that they are terrified of, but they learn, over time, that their talent isn’t inherently evil and it depends on how one uses it.

Bonus points if they are supressing their abilities and it’s hurting them.

Ideally, MC1 will be smaller, but insanely powerful.

As a trans person, I have to think carefully about where I go. So if I’m out on a route to a country that seems dangerous for me, can I just decline or will there be repercussions?

I don’t speak French fluently, and honestly, I don’t even speak it well, however, I really want this job that requires a very high to near native level proficiency.

That said, this job does come with pretty great travel benefits, as such, I can move to a different country temporarily to improve my skill and literally only have to pay for lodging. I considered Paris, of course, but the issue is, this work also requires travel and going to and from France would be incredibly draining. However, someone mentioned I could just move to Montreal instead and likely have an easier time.

So I’m wondering, is Quebecois French really *that* different from Standard French? Could I pass a spoken high level exam with a native French speaker with the grammatical and accent difference? I would hate to invest so much time and effort just to get to the exam and bomb bc my French isn’t standard…

Edit For added context: The job is not dependent on me speaking French, I just get a bonus if I do and can travel to and from France more often.

I’m not asking for opinions on learning French, it’s difficulty, or whether you think it’s reasonable, I’m asking if quebecois and standard French are too different.

So I’m a flight attendant hopeful (🔺) and after my first year, I’d like to move to France to perfect my French skills and eventually become LOD.

Ik commuting is difficult, but I’d like to know how realistic this is, the flight to CDG from JFK, DTW, and BOS are all around 7 hours and the flight from ATL is 8.5 hours. It’s not ideal obviously, and it’d be a strain, but it’s the best way to improve my French skills.

Ik the LOD exam is hard, please don’t try to dissuade me from doing it, your words will fall on deaf ears. I just want to know if commuting from abroad is sustainable for a year or two.

Ik that’s a mouthful, but essentially, I’m looking for something where someone (ideally larger MC2) has to mate with or marry MC1 but MC2 is already in love/mated/married or their partner is recently deceased.

So I was playing with this group, (all guys, idk their races) and the dm pulled me aside a couple days ago to tell me my accent was making the other players uncomfortable. For context, I’m black and creole (from Louisiana), and I use AAVE rather liberally, but can code switch and I typically do depending on my comfort level. Normally I DO code switch around these guys bc I don’t really know them.

The thing is, I made a black, voodoo based character and I really wanted to lean into my own culture for inspiration, I didn’t make some hip hop caricature, he was just very clearly black and kind of a self insert. It’s the first time I’ve ever done something like this, so I was kinda excited.

Two sessions down and the dm pulled me aside to say the way I was talking was breaking immersion for everyone and making them uncomfortable bc it felt like I was mocking black people, so they asked if I could “just speak normally”.

I told him “this is actually way more normal for me. The accent you experience is whitewashed bc I don’t really know you, but the way I speak in game is truer to my actual accent” to which he responded,

“Look, I don’t really care. At this rate, I’m kinda doubting you even are black because black people just don’t really talk like that outside of movies and things. And I’d know, I’ve had plenty of black friends in my life, Ebonics is real, but not the way you’re doing it. You need to drop the voice or find a different table.” I swear to god, verbatim.

I was definitely in shock but ultimately, after sending a pic of a certain black finger, decided to just dip out. It was pretty clear that table wasn’t a match for me.

It was pretty shitty but ultimately, I’m just glad I left sooner rather than later.
