Sorry for not using an item to scale size. I wish I had. If I had to guess I would say maybe 1/4 the size of a penny. But that is a rough and probably terrible guess. Maybe the ridges on the paper towel can be of some help?

Can anyone help identify what this could be from? This is driving me up the wall. We have found this at random in our apartment on multiple occasions in the last several weeks. We have had pest control and maintenance check behind the fridge and stove. They even left 4 mouse traps in the hot water heater closet (for at least 5-6 weeks) and caught nothing. I keep this apartment very clean but even so we do see the occasional roach but normally already dead.

There are no other signs of mice, other than finding these at random.

It’s always first thing in the morning when I am prepping the house for the day that I find them.

It’s not every night, maybe once or twice a week.

It squishes, doesn’t really crumble. This looks black I’ve seen it also look really dark brown

We do have a cat but in the last 6 years have never seen anything like this from him and his poop is closer to a light brown color.

This has been going on for several weeks (10-12) and I would love to get to the bottom of it. I’m almost to the point of putting out a camera. Please help!
