Does anyone else find being a P5 ridiculously stressful?

I saw someone else post about feeling like they are drowning in a P5 role. Made me think about how after a little over a year, I have found being in a P5 role to be both extremely stressful and extremely boring all at the same time. We’re expected to be worker bees, and do all the administrative tasks of somebody in a lower P level role, but at the same time know complex answers to questions from leadership. So we end up doing a ton of busy work, but are simultaneously getting “hot” tasks straight from leadership and told that all things require the same urgent follow-through. I got this P5 role and was given zero training (I know…typical Collins.) The reason I needed help is because I switched business units and everything in this new one requires completely different processes. Meanwhile, every time I ask for help I’ve been told some version of “figure it out.” I’ve never felt so siloed in a job before. My manager doesn’t schedule any check-ins with me. But when I take the initiative and schedule them with her, she takes every question I have to her supervisor, and I end up with my boss’ boss in all my business all the time. Can anyone tell me if this is a typical P5 experience or if I just got unlucky? I’m hoping that things start getting better soon, but at this point it’s been over a year. Anyway, I just needed to vent…It’s Sunday night and I’m dreading work tomorrow.

Considering leaving Collins

Hi all,

So I know this is very subjective, but should I be considering leaving Collins? The constant layoffs have me freaked out because (like everyone else) I really can’t afford to lose my job right now. Is it smart to start looking elsewhere?
