I’m a lead software developer who usually spends my days deep in complex React/Node architectures and AWS infrastructure. But for my latest project, pianocreator, I decided to step away from the traditional boilerplate, put on some Brad Mehldau, and lean entirely into vibe coding.

We wanted to build an application that didn't just serve a static UI, but actually adapted its behavior using AI. Here is a breakdown of how we pulled it off.

The Stack

• IDE: Google Antigravity.
• App Builder: Base44.
• Models: Claude (for architecture/planning) + Gemini 3.1 Pro / Flash (for fast execution).

1. The Workflow: Claude + Google Antigravity

The biggest mistake in vibe coding is hitting the IDE with a massive "build this app" prompt. We started by using Claude to architect the system.

Once the blueprint was solid, we moved into the Google Antigravity IDE. We utilized its native Gemini 3 models for rapid, inline scaffolding. Because we had the architecture already mapped out by Claude, the Antigravity agents could focus strictly on generating verifiable deliverables (like task lists and code diffs) without losing context of the broader application.

2. Defining AI-Based Behavior in Base44

Instead of spinning up a traditional backend, we used Base44 to define the application's core logic.

We set up Base44's AI Controls and Custom Instructions so the AI dictates the business logic dynamically. We also integrated the Base44 AI based Chatbot widgets, who provide automated, proactive responses based on user interactions. It feels much more organic than standard procedural routing.

3. Prompt-Driven Business Analytics

To track performance, we bypassed manual event trackers and utilized Base44's data processing and analytics capabilities. The system monitors the automated responses and user interactions, allowing us to build our feedback loop purely through prompt engineering.

Takeaways for Complex Vibe Coding

1. Separate the Brains from the Hands: Use Claude for high-level system design and your IDE's agent-first models (like Gemini) for the heavy lifting.
2. Push Logic to the AI: Let Base44’s agent handle database operations and branching logic via automated responses rather than hardcoding paths.
3. Budget: it was challenging to make use of tokens, so using SpecKit and cheaper models, it was possible to handle the token usage even when the project became huge in terms of capabilities. in terms of traffic and exposure. the results are pretty spectacular.
