When I turn on WiFi when in KoReader (I have a Kobo Sage), it pops up that it is turning on and scanning for networks, and then it never connects. It doesn't pop up with the available networks, the WiFi popup just disappears and when I try to do something that needs WiFi, it asks me to turn on WiFi / connect, and the same cycle happens.

The only reliable way I've gotten WiFi to work in KoReader is exit to stock Kobo firmware, connect to WiFi there, and then return to KR. It works, but if my device goes to sleep or if I turn WiFi off/on, the original issue persists.

I tried to search, and I found that I should remove my network.lua files as KR is just trying to connect to existing networks and not showing available ones. I opened those files and I see that there are three networks there, not including my current WiFi network. I deleted the files, and the first time I tried again it worked (popup of nearby networks appeared, I could see my correct network selected), but then every time after that it's been the same problem as before!

If anyone else is experiencing this or knows how to fix it, please help! This makes it really hard for me to sync my progress :( I like to turn WiFi off for battery purposes so it becomes impossible for me to reconnect to WiFi. Thanks!

Yesterday, my koreader syncing was working on my X4. Suddenly today, it fails with "Authentication Failed Network Error"

I was on CrossPoint 1.5.0, I tried also on 1.6.0rc, and both had the same problem. It's not a problem with my credentials, as I put in an incorrect password and the same error happened. It's not fully my WiFi connection - other WiFi features for File Transfer all worked fine on the same network, and I also tried on my phone hotspot and it had the same issue.

Anyone else experiencing this suddenly / is this a known issue? Thanks!

Update: okay I changed from https://sync.koreader.rocks/ to the crosspoint server, and it's working now... anyone know if https://sync.koreader.rocks/ is down?

Everyone keeps speculating and saying that the black gap between the screen and edge is going to be worse on the white X4 Pro compared to the black, making the seamless screen experience potentially better on the black - but are there any direct comparisons? Obviously the product just released, but I'm wondering if any early reviewers got both and can provide a real comparison for the rest of us? I'm not seeing any examples of that in the wild, only seeing reviewers with one of the colors, but wanted to ask just in case.

I know a lot of us are waiting for the white version, me included. I have the X4 and X3 in white, and wanted to continue getting the Xteink devices in white since I really like the way they look - but the comments about this gap are making me consider the black!

I use the koreader sync built in functionality, and have a question - if I choose to sync by filename, does the extension on the file on the two devices have to be the same?

i.e. filename.epub and filename.kepub.epub

Kobo is one of my main devices, and while I usually don’t need kepub since I usually use koreader, I’m in a habit of loading kepub files since those work better on kobo UI and want the option. My kosync is a bit buggy so I’m having a tough time testing this scenario (sometimes it takes a few tries to work so I can’t tell if it’s not working because it’s buggy or because it’s not supposed to)

I tried to look up how it’s meant to work and couldn’t really find anything, so appreciate any help!

I have two different Calibre libraries, one for normal books and another for articles/substacks/serial formats, that I switch between. I like to send from both libraries to my devices.

I have a custom set send to device template, and am wondering if I can set different templates for the two libraries. I don't see an option, and in Calibre I only see that the template can be overridden by individual devices, nothing about for different libraries.

I want this because for my serial format files I want to include series and series index in the filename when it gets sent to my device, as it helps me sort. For my actual books, I don't want series index in the filename, as I use koreader sync by filename (binary never seems to works correctly for me), and having the series index in the filename breaks that. Is what I'm trying to do possible with any plugin? Thank you!

Thought I'd share something I realized recently for fixing the Sunlight Fading Issue on the X4!

I don't often read out in the sun with my X4, but was last weekend and was facing the fading issue. I tried turning the Sunlight Fading Fix to ON, which I've done before, and like usual it didn't really help at all; each page turn still had crazy fading issues.

Instead, I turned the Fix back OFF and then changed my Refresh Frequency from 30 pages to 1 page. This fixed it! I think since it's refreshing every single time, it gets rid of any screen fading issues. It's aggressive to have it set to 1 page, so I plan to only do that when I need it.

I only tried this on Crosspoint, but I don't see why it wouldn't work on Stock Firmware as well, or any other firmware where you can set the refresh rate.

I recently checked out the official XT app again, and it's changed a lot since I last saw it! I was flipping between my two devices that are linked, X4 and X3, and noticed that only X4 had an "RSS Feed" feature. I really want to check it out this feature on my X3 but don't see a way to do it (my X4 is on Crosspoint and I don't want to reflash it just to test this one feature, my X3 I've kept on Official Firmware). Does anyone know why this feature is locked for just the X4 and can anyone on the XT team get it added for X3? Thanks!

Also very open to knowing people's RSS solutions! I've been trying out using Calibre's News feature along with Crosspoint and Calibre Plugin -- but I don't always have Calibre running and have no idea if I've missed a day's update (I'm using it on a Substack, so it's not updated everyday, and I don't want to have to manually check that I didn't miss anything). Would love to know what people are doing!

I am a heavy user of the Calibre Plugin for Crosspoint, but didn't use it much the last month or so. I went to use it again this week and got an `Error communicating with device` error, specifying `mkdir failed` and `<urlopen error timed out>`, or simply a `timed out` error

I think this is because I am trying to send files that are in folders that already exist, or re-sending files with the same names that have had changes (I use it to keep stories I'm reading serially up to date, so I re-send files a lot). The simple timed out error is happening even when the file isn't nested in folders or exist already on my device. I'm not sure why it's no longer working when it used to work perfectly. I tried on both Crosspoint 1.3.0 and 1.2.0.
