Helping Hand missions during the story campaign

We are on day 7.
So I have a question I couldn't get a straight answer on: many Helping Hand missions require to reach certain locations. once you reach that location with that character in your play area, you are instructed to read a section in the book corresponding to that and thus completing your task.
However, during the story (starting from day 4), you are instructed to proceed to different locations, and on the way you meet characters and take on Helping Hand missions for them, but when you reach the matching locations, you need to read a different entry - an entry relevant to the story. So what happens now with your Helping Hand missions? They cannot be completed? For example, we arrived at Golden Shore with the fisherman we picked up at White Sky (I forget his name). His Helping Hand mission is to help find him a good fishing spot. But once we arrive at Golden Shore we can't complete the mission because the section we're reading does not involve this character.
In our last game we decided we're gonna complete it anyway because thematically we were there, with this character, so we found him his friggin' fishing spot. But I'm not sure we did it correctly and I'm not sure how these situations should be handled.
