Thinking of going back to CrossFit… advice!!

Hey guys! I did CrossFit for 4 years until our local box closed, and then I got pregnant right after. I didn’t do much other than walking and some light weights at the local PF during my pregnancy. I also had a C and that set me back too, but I finally picked up Burn Boot Camp in April. I loved the fact they had child watch (the CW staff is amazing!!) mainly, as that has been my main obstacle to getting back into the gym.

Since being at Burn, I have had 3 repetitive motion injuries. Mind you, I was a runner, did OLY lifting, and CrossFit for years and never had an injury.
I know pregnancy can change your body significantly, but considering my injustices have been to my knees, wrists, and quad… I don’t think it’s postpartum issues. As much as I enjoy it the child watch and the community, I do wonder if the constant reps during the workouts haven’t affected me. I skipped yesterday (athletic conditioning) because I looked at our local camp’s story and it looked like a ton of jumping around.

I know CrossFit isn’t perfect, but at least I feel the movements have some kind of purpose. I did a trial week at a CF Box about 20 mins out of the way, and I was reminded how much I enjoyed it. I’m just not sure if I can justify the distance with how high gas prices are, plus I’d have to go at 5AM due to them not having childcare. I hate our local CF closed, which is part of the reason I started at Burn, but I’m wondering if Burn just isn’t for me. Am I just in a slump? Any other ex crossfittters here that can give me some advice to enjoying Burn a little more?

Career Change into ECE from Corporate World

I am leaving my high stress corporate job this week after many years. We were bought out by a private equity firm and things have been going downhill since. I spoke to my daughter's daycare and asked if they may need help, and she said that they do! I had an interview with the directors and then a working interview with the teacher I will be co-teaching with. All went well, and I have accepted the job. I will start in a few weeks after my background and fingerprints and all come back.

I felt so fulfilled working with the babies and helping care for them. I'm so used to getting yelled at by some rich CEO about numbers all day that it was honestly refreshing wiping boogers and keeping the toddlers from injuring each other.

I have always loved working with children. I took a couple of years of ECE classes in high school at our vocational location and enjoyed it. My parents of course told me that I would struggle financially so I didn't pursue the job despite my enjoyment of it, so I ended up in the corporate world.

The center will also pay for CE, as well as any certifications I would like to seek out. I am very close to an AAS and I am considering changing my study program to ECE and getting my degree in that as well.

Has anyone else in the field left a higher paying job to go into childcare? What classes/programs/certifications did you find most beneficial? Has the change been worth it for you?

Financially, with the discount I won't be making terribly less than I was being paid before, so that helps. My husband also works so we will still be a 2 income household. I love the idea of being able to leave work at work, as well as feeling like I have more of a purpose than staring at emails all day.

Thank you guys for your input!!!
