Accomplished my goal at Burn!

Today I accomplished a huge goal that I set for myself, and most of my friends and family aren’t really into fitness, so I don’t know who to tell because I don’t want to seem braggy. BUT…
I am a teacher, and my goal was to go to Burn at 6AM every weekday of the school year this year. Today is my last day of school, and I DID IT! I went to every single camp no matter the protocol. I didn’t miss a single day! I feel pretty proud of myself. Please clap for me. 🤪

I really wish Burn was open on Sundays :(

Working mama here. I love Burn so much. But I’m heading back to work in a few weeks and have had to cancel my membership because it’s just too chaotic to fit in class during the week. I know the staff deserves a day off but man, I wish they were open on Sundays. A membership would totally be worth it if I could go on the weekends. Anyone else in the same boat?

Credit card processing fees

My location has stated that after June 1st, anyone who pays their membership fees via a Credit card will be charged the 3% credit card processing fee. They have asked that we provide our ACH info. Personally, I don't trust that they will keep that data safe, and it's harder to deal with the issue if my bank is erroneously charged. I also have my payment on the last few days of the month, and I don't want to have to deal with the cash at the end of the month.

I have looked at my contract, and this doesn't stipulate that they can do this. Has anyone dealt with this before? Our owner is not a very pleasant person, and I don't want to go in and fight over a $5/month fee, but it also seems super dodgy. Does anyone have any advice?

Child Watch Question

My location will be opening soon and I plan on joining but am wondering what ages can use child watch and do you often see older kids there too (7+)?

June protocol?

Does anyone know what the June protocol is yet? This mama likes to put everything in her planner ahead of time.😂 Thanks in advance!

Today’s ACON review

Just wanted to hop on here and say that usually I am an ACON hater, a loather really. Like if there are no more haters left on earth for ACON know I am dead type of loathing. This all stems from the fact that I simply can’t do a lot of the exercises. It’s typically a TON of jumping and plyometric moves that I simply cannot coordinate. What makes it worse is that I “look” like I should be able to do these things but what I possess in height and svelteness I lack in athletic ability. Which always makes ACON harder because the trainers are like “oh you could do this easily… no…. You have to JUMP” “I AM JUMPING!!!”

Anyway, all that aside, I’ve been attempting to purposefully have a better attitude with the hope that I can get through an ACON without feeling totally defeated. I have to say, I actually enjoyed today! Although there were surrenders which only a few people could do (not me! 😊) everything else was doable which made me feel like perhaps I’m marginally improving? If any burn creators read this sub—please less jumping overall and more skills we can build on!!

Hopefully one day I’ll be able to surrender or box jump or just jump in general…

Plantar fasciitis

As the title says.. I am having a plantar fasciitis flare for the first time in over 10 years. Started the day after Acon last week.

I took today off to continue to rest but I don’t really feel much difference. I’m doing stretches and wearing the right shoes, etc.

Has anyone who deals/dealt with this and continued going to conditioning camps? If so, did you just mod?

I made the mistake of pushing through a shoulder injury last year and ended up in PT for 6 months so trying to be better about listening to my body 😇

5/22 BWC and 5/23 FBS

I know it’s early but any details on bodyweight Friday or full body Saturday? Friend in town for holiday weekend. I tried ISI with her so now it’s her turn to try burn with me!

Running?

Today I heard the trainer talk about how we should be running. I go to camp 5x a week. What is the guidance on what we need to do in addition to going to camp? Is it just on the two rest days or on the same days as camp?

Working at burn

What is the typical pay working front desk or training at Burn? I have been going for about 2 months now and absolutely LOVE it. Thought about maybe looking into working there in the future. Also, benefits? Free membership?

Burn Childwatch workers, how do you handle repeat aggressive behavior?

I work in Childwatch at Burn Boot Camp and was wondering if any other workers have dealt with a situation like this or have advice.

Most of our kids are wonderful, and I’ve worked with many of them for over a year now. There’s one set of siblings in particular that I’ve known since I first started. Their mom comes to camp almost daily. One child is preschool age and the other is in kindergarten.

They actually used to be some of my favorite kids, but over time the behavior has become increasingly difficult to manage. Both children are frequently aggressive toward other kids. We’ve had issues with hitting, pushing, pulling chairs out from under children, rough play, and intentionally upsetting other kids. The older child has also started coming in very dysregulated at times: kicking, screaming, and occasionally kicking staff or other children.

The other day, we had a new member bring her two little ones. Both siblings teamed up on a 2-year-old and were pushing her around. I corrected them calmly and reminded them to keep their hands to themselves, and the older child responded, “I don’t like her.”

We’ve talked with mom many times over the past several months about struggling with following directions, keeping hands to themselves, and interacting appropriately with other children. She has mentioned that they may be overwhelmed from school, which I completely understand, but we haven’t seen much improvement over time.
We’ve tried timeouts (allowed at our location), redirection, calming techniques, positive reinforcement, talks/explanations, and giving them space to regulate.

Unfortunately, nothing has been consistently effective long-term, and the behaviors are starting to impact the experience and safety of the other children in the room.

At this point, staff is feeling a little stuck and unsure what else we can do within the limits of Childwatch.
Have any other Burn Childwatch workers dealt with something similar? What strategies helped? How did your location handle it?

Quick review of burn bootcamp as someone who switched gyms

I wanted to give a quick review of Burn Boot Camp after being there for about a year. I honestly think it’s amazing for the community aspect and motivation. The trainers and members are super supportive and it definitely helped me stay consistent.

But personally, my body changed more in about 6 months of traditional strength training and doing cardio on the side than it did my entire year at Burn. I think a lot of people feel stuck because the workouts feel SO intense that you think you’re burning way more calories than you actually are, and then you end up starving after the workouts. That was definitely my experience.

Once I switched to lifting weights with lighter cardio, I wasn’t nearly as hungry all the time and I saw way better changes in my overall body composition.

I still think Burn is great for building consistency, confidence, and having a strong community around you. I just personally don’t think it’s the best workout style for changing your overall physique long term. I just wanted to post this in case anyone was feeling stuck or feeling the way I felt there.

Struggling

So I joined burn in January because I liked the camp style workouts. For somebody who was coming from having absolutely no physical Fitness and needing to be shown and told how to work out being able to just show up somewhere and being told what to do worked really well for me.But my goal is to bulk and build a lot of muscle. I actually want to be able to do unassisted pull ups. I feel like burn is kind of getting in the way of that goal because I’m struggling in the time constraints to find a weight that is going to progress me to the next stage of failure and be able to do the reps that I feel are appropriate in the structure. I feel like I have to supplement my burn workouts with more gym time either at my apartment or at another gym that isn’t a camp style. That being said I still sit and spin sometimes when I’m at the gym on my own. Anybody else struggling with burn if your goal isn’t weight loss? Maybe I need a one on one personal trainer.

BOD Athletic Conditioning was 🔥🔥

I know quite a few recent posts have asked about the quality of Burn on Demand workouts, and I just need to attest that I worked out and trained in person, and then did the Burn on demand athletic conditioning, and thought the Burn on demand was WAYYYYY more fun!

The exercises were different and I preferred the ones they did, the energy was great, and I was alone able to go all out. So if you’re questioning….DO IT!
