I recently (mid January) got a Corsair HS80 MAX and haven't really used it a lot since then

It hung a while on a headset rest, and I noticed that some plastic shards were falling off when I picked it up. Then I noticed that these plastic plates were falling apart
At first there were some small pieces falling off, but over time it got worse with bigger cracks and pieces
In the images you can see what it's currently looking like
I don't know what that is or why it's happening
I never dropped that headset, and it feels like some sort of corrosion at this point

Has anyone noticed something similar or know what this could be?
