so we knew each other for more than 7 months now, they started calling me darling VERY early into the friendship. once i asked why they said "oh it's a thing that friends call each other in germany", is it true? i'm so freaking curious

my friend got a new canary and i'm furious

so for context, my friend's past canary died in march at 9 years old, they kept him in the small cage as shown on the photos, everything's plastic, plastic feeders, plastic toys, plastic perches, EVERYTHING. he has a seed only diet and when i asked them how often do they give him new food, change water and clean the cage, ONCE A WEEK. JUST. ONCE. IN. SEVEN. DAYS. of course, that caught me off guard so i insisted that they need to take more care of the bird, buy a bigger cage and like replace everything so the canary would live a happy and safe life. guess what? NO. they WON'T buy it, they didn't even care! their excuse was that the PET STORE recommended it so they bought it and the one who bought it was his MOM, ALONE with no list of what to buy, no cuttlebone, no foraging toys, no bird bath, just NOTHING, young bird alone in that room with his parrot roommate and his own reflection. the parrot is a grey cockatiel, a bigger bird, in a slightly bigger cage, the treatment's probably the same and it's even worse because it's a cockatiel. the birds are barely getting let out of the cages. just sitting in that room, with hopes and dreams. there was no research done on how to care about these birds, none of them are tame, it's been over 4 months living in that hell.

does anyone have any tips on how to convince them? anything?

do i keep the bowl with the food for my canary overnight in his cage or do i give him food at stable hours?

okay so my canary's a fatass and he wakes me up at 5AM or so and the only thing i hear is him chirping and eating. i give him 2 tea spoons of his seed mix and a bit of senegal millet per day. any tips? also the seed mix isn't my canary's only food so don't come at me, i give him greens and fruits.
