My canary died

I have a parrot and a canary. A little sun. I put the Coco(parrot) in the sun after taking a shower. He was enjoying. I decided to put the canary as well. 10 minutes later I found him dead.

Do u think my cage is appropriate? 🤔

Hallo! uh ive had these girls for a couple of weeks but they were sprung in me pretty suddenly. Was just wondering if people think my cage is big enough for them and they have appropriate toys and enough of them? The toys are wooden.

i leave the cage door open when im in my room (which is most of the time) and close my blinds and cover any mirrors to avoid accidents. They come out sometimes but pretty much like to stay in their cage majority of the time.

sometimes they squawk at eachother and like tussle alittle bit but idk if this is normal or because they are bored or dont have enough room.

Any advice and tips on how to get them to trust me wuld me helpful as well as they seem pretty petrified of me at the moment which i expected cuz ive had them a short time and i know they arnt ‘lap birds’ like cockatiels and other parrots.

I love these ladies alot and just want the best for them so any advice at all wuld be very helpful 😣😣😅😅

birdie ;(

Hey i just need to cry it out a little bit.

I've had my birdie for almost a year. He was 2 when i got him.

He passed away 3 days ago.

I can't understand what did i do wrong.

He had wonderful feed. He had grit with sand, seashells, eggshells, charcoal and algae. He had cuttlebone. He had a mineral block. He had vitamins sneaked to his water every now and then. He got fruits and vegetables almost everyday.

He was free roaming my house most of the time i had him. He had a small cage for eating and sleeping, and the whole room for himself. I've build him a huge tree with natural branches, from floor to the ceiling. He had numerous natural perches around the house. He had water to bathe in. He had millet branches hanged around so he could graze on them.

When i needed to transport him to my parents' house for holidays, i've build him a big cage, 1,5mx1mx1,2m so he would have plenty of space when he can't be let out.

And then he passed away one night. Just like that, no signs of illness, no possibilty of poisoning or animal attack. He was in this big cage, safe and with everything he needed. With no one bothering him. And I just found him laying down like that.

I'm still shocked, i don't know what to do, if i did something wrong, maybe i didn't notice something. I know that they don't usually show signs of illness until it's too late, but i just can't get over it. I miss him so much, i want him with me, i want to hear his chirps again, i want to hear his little footsteps again. I can't understand why that happened. If i did something wrong. Or was it just meant to happen.

He was my best friend for almost a year. He was always there with me, when i lived alone and for majority of time he was the only thing i could talk to. I'm going back to study in a month and i just can't imagine him not being there. His little cage is still in that room and idk what i will do when i come back there without him. He was the most precious little thing that i ever met and i just don't know. Like, anything. ;((

My canary cage is next to the window and she’s been flying from one side of the cage to the other and looking outside, but I don’t know what she sees, is she okay?

My male canary passed away, what now for the female?

Hello everyone,

My little friend unfortunately passed away yesterday at 11 years old (orange one). He lived together in the same cage with a female canary (she is 6 right now I think). She's living with my parents, and they don't really want to get a new bird, so she'll likely be on her own from now on. My younger brother is absolutely devastated, because he don't even remember living without this canary.

I'm worried that she won't adapt for a new situation. She saw his dead body, but still keeps looking around the cage like she's searching for him, which is worrying me.

I'm also a bit worried she'll become less tame around people - she's always been a little more shy, and he was kind of the "braver" one, so I'm not sure how she'll do without him for that.

Any experiences or advice would mean a lot.

Red factor babies?

Hello/ My yellow female canary and red factor male had 3 babies. They are around 2.5 months old. One is bright yellow and the other two are a lovely lemon colour. I’ve just noticed orange areas on them. At first I thought it was red capsicum mess they made! But on closer inspection it’s red feathers. Has anyone experienced this? My son accidentally fed them red factor seed while I was on holiday/ they eat a fair amount of broccoli 🥦 that I know also contains a pigment. Anyone experienced this? Tia 😃

Canary possibly plucking feathers

Male, started molting. Still singing, eating, being happy. For a few days I was playing him videos of girl canaries, then stopped. Now his chest is getting very thin, but I'm not sure if he is plucking. Although I suspect he is. Could he be frustrated about the videos? Could it be breeding behavior? I'm not sure whether to let him view more, or if it's causing the behavior, I should stop. Nothing else has changed that I know of. I've dealt with hookbills that plucked(came to me that way) but not canaries.

tail bobbing…

All of my canaries have bobbing tails, im not sure what’s the issue and why or how they’re all ill,

only one of them seem extremely healthy, she flies around and chirps happily but her tail also bobs sometimes.

I think my white canary ( Henrietta ) is the most sick, like in the video, she was sitting fluffed up , with her eyes closed and her tail bobbing, but now she’s happily hopping around from perch to perch so I really want to be certain before I take them to the vet since it’s a long way away.

Camera recommendations?

I live far away from my sister who keeps canaries and finches. When we get together on Discord weekly, she talks about them but can't really show them to my brothers and me. I'll be visiting her soon and would like to gift her with a camera so she can share. But I don't know what to get. She is not tech savvy. Thanks for your advice!

do gloster canaries always sit like this?

My son Ernest always sits fully flat on the branch and I was thinking maybe he has sores on his foot or something but It’s impossible to try and catch him in the cage.

He sits like this most of the day so I was like, maybe his moulting is really tiring him out but sometimes his tail bobs so im scared it’s a respiratory issue.

He’s also active sometimes, he likes to fly to the very top perch and chirp with my other canary and he loves to eat
