You're ruining my vision Kuro, wdym Roccia and Brant, two characters who very clearly care for each other, don't work properly in a team, but Yangyang X and Chisa do????

Buling SP

Buling better be one of the next 4 stars to get an SP version, she's one of my favorite characters of all time alongside Yangyang

Let it happen

IF Hsin does end up being an electro unit (which we >>>>don't officially know<<<< yet), I want her sonata set to work with Electro Rover as well, similar to how Windward Pilgrimage can work for Aero Rover

I don't care about pulling for Hsin, E.Rover's gameplay is far more appealing to me, but i don't want to farm for a Void thunder set just to see that Hsin's set has something like, +20% Crit Rate (i don't know why most of the newer sonata sets have exactly +20% Crit Rate, but who am i to complain?)

Encore | 10/10 daughter

This'll be something a tad bit more personal, I've been wanting to revisit some of my unbuilt characters in my account and, with their quest appearences, see if I grew attached to them enough so I could build them (also to improve my own fucked up attention span and literacy)

After re-watching Encore's companion quest, I've began to love her more. Between that dreamy view on the world and the sense of longing on her dead mother, wanting to tell her her stories once again, her characterization was done beautifully

Then, seeing Ying's situation, how she claimed to be happy by the ending of her story, yet noting her sad expression, Encore didn't want to settle with that and believed that she deserved a better ending, to see her once more, to reunite Ying with her mother, even if it wasn't really her. And it did pay off, not only for Ying, but even for Encore herself, who also got to see her own mother in the Gateway of Wishes

I'm not exactly sure how to put it, but Encore has this sense of emotional maturity combined with her childlike nature, bringing light into an already dark world and not allowing trauma and grief to dictate her life

10/10, despite being a somewhat simple quest, it was executed beautifully, and so was Encore's character, can't wait to become an Encore main now

I want to main her

I don't have any of her sequences

But after playing her as intended, I found out, I had more fun with her than I've ever did with Aemeath

I don't have Lynae, nor Mornye, nor Lupa, nor Changli, nor Shorekeeper (Skipped all of them deliberately), and my only salvation seems to be Chisa

But I like her playstyle

I feel like, playing Denia as a main dps, is right where i'm supposed to be

How 2 Yangyang: Xuanling DPS (3.5)

I genuinely expected someone to beat me to it when it came to doing a guide for her, seeing how strong she was and etc, but I guess no???? Might as well take that chance now

This is a guide on how to play and build our queen, Yangyang Xuanling.

---

♫ Gameplay ♫

This is somewhat extensive but i'll try to boil it down as much as possible.

Yangyang Xuanling's (who i'll refer to as Yangyang X from here onwards) can switch, through her resonance skill, between two stances; Feather stance and Azure stance. Each stance behaves differently, and you'll know which stance you are in depending on what weapon Yangyang X is currently using:

  • Feather Stance = Rapier (Wobbly Sword). The middle of her forte bar will look like two feathers in this stance.
  • Azure Stance = Whatever weapon you equipped her with. The middle of her forte bar will look like an ellipse in this stance.

Yangyang X also features two different forte bars:

  • Melody (Purple and blue glowing bar)
  • Azure Plume (Beneath the glowing bar)

Dealing damage with her basic attacks will deplete her Melody bar, and upon depleting it completely, her next resonance skill will be enhanced to Sword Stance Flow: Azure/Feather.

Upon casting it, she'll switch stances, consume 1 stack of Havoc Bane on the targets hit, AND additionally gain 1 stack of Azure Plume. The other ways she can gain stacks of Azure Plume is through her intro skill (+1) and her liberation (+1. Additionally enhances the next resonance skill as well).

When you gain 2 stacks of Azure Plume, she'll gain access to an enhanced heavy attack, which behaves differently depending on what stance you're in:

  • Heavy Azure: Yangyang X generates a massive cyclone forward that deals heavy damage near instantaneously. She will also inflict 2 stacks of havoc bane on all targets hit.
  • Heavy Feather: Yangyang X hits targets and rises upwards, inflicting 2 stacks of havoc bane on targets hit, then follows it up with Mid-air attack - Feather fall, dealing huge, heavy attack damage in a wide radius, as well as enabling Hark The Wind.
    • Hark The Wind: This replaces Yangyang X's basic attacks with Havoc in Bloom, which performs 3 consecutive attacks in a wide radius, dealing huge, heavy attack damage
  • Both enhanced Heavy Attacks, as well as the "Havoc in Bloom" attacks, gain a free 160% Crit DMG bonus upon being casted, and there's a 25 second interval before each Heavy Attack of each stance can gain this buff again.

The Heavy Feather attack is generally superior than the Heavy Azure attack, as it deals more damage, but lasts much longer.

Yangyang X's kit also revolves around havoc bane stacks in the following ways:

  • Feathered Oath (Passive): Each time anyone in the team inflicts havoc bane, Yangyang X gains a stack of Feathered Oath, which can be gained once every 1 second, lasts for 4 seconds and can be stacked up to 6 times. If Yangyang X is currently on field, then her Enhanced Heavy Attacks (Azure Stance / Feather Stance / Havoc in bloom) gain a 25% crit DMG bonus per stack, up to a 150% crit DMG bonus.
  • Unbroken Vow (Inherent Skill 1):
    • If a target has 1 to 3 Havoc Bane stacks, each stack amplifies Yangyang X's damage output by 10%, up to 30%.
    • If a target has 4 to 6 Havoc Bane stacks, each stack amplifies Yangyang X's damage output by 12%, up to 36%.

Havoc bane is key for unlocking Yangyang X's full potential. She can apply these stacks herself by attacking with her 4th Basic Attack of any stance she's currently in (inflicts 1 stack of Havoc Bane) or by attacking with Heavy Attack - Azure Stance or Heavy Attack - Forte stance

Essentially, she can gain up to a massive 310% Crit DMG bonus for her enhanced Heavy Attacks, and 66% overall dmg amplification.

♪ Sequence nodes ♪

  • S1: Her Enhanced Resonance Skill now deals extra heavy attack damage, stagnates nearby enemies. Additionally, her Heavy - Azure attack, and Havoc In Bloom attacks are immune to interruption.
  • S2: Her Heavy Attacks gain a 100% DMG increase. When she's out of combat for more than 4 seconds, she gains 2 Azure stacks, gains 1 Strung Note, which allows her to deal extra heavy attack damage, and the 25second cooldown of her 160% Crit DMG buff is reset
  • S3: 175% Res. Liberation DMG amplification. Her Intro skill and enhanced resonance skills now increase the maximum havoc bane stacks enemies can recieve by 3 for 20 seconds, this does not stack. Additionally, her 4th basic attacks and her enhanced heavy attacks now inflict 1 extra stack of havoc bane.
  • S4: Her intro skill, resonance skill and enhanced resonance skills now increase the ATK of all resonators by 20%
  • S5: Yangyang recovers 50% HP and gains immunity to DMG and interruption for 3 seconds upon taking fatal damage. Triggers once every 10 minutes.
  • S6: When Yangyang inflicts Havoc Bane, the DMG of her Heavy Attacks is increased by 40% for 30 seconds. When she casts her enhanced resonance skills, she gains Still as Withered Wood for 30 seconds. When she's on the field, after anyone on the team inflict any negative status, Yangyang will deal extra, heavy attack damage that's guaranteed to be a critical hit, this can be triggered once every second and expires after being triggered 5 times. Still as Withered Wood can be obtained once every 25 seconds.

🪽Azure Oath

  • 587 base ATK
  • 24.3% Crit Rate
  • Grants 12% All-Attribute DMG Bonus. After inflicting Havoc Bane, the wielder gains 36% Heavy Attack DMG Amplification and their Heavy Attack DMG ignores 12% of the target's DEF, lasting for 8s.

Pretty much her best weapon, free DMG amplification, DEF ignore, it has everything. That said, the options below aren't that far off.

🎍Emerald Sentence

  • 587 base ATK
  • 24.3% Crit Rate
  • ATK is increased by 12%. Casting Echo Skill within 10s after casting Intro Skill or Basic Attack grants 1 stack of Bamboo Cleaver, which grants 30% Heavy Attack DMG Bonus to the wielder. This effect can be triggered by Echoes of the same name once only, stacking up to 2 times, lasting for 12s. [The following passive is irrelevant and does not contribute to Yangyang's Damage whatsoever]

A close contender to Azure oath. free 30% Heavy Attack DMG bonus upon casting an echo skill for 12 seconds, just remember to do it AFTER casting an intro skill or a basic attack (which you'll be doing a lot of the later)

🌌**Emerald of Genesis [5 star]**

  • 587 base atk
  • 24.3% Crit Rate
  • Increases Energy Regen by 12.8%. When Resonance Skill is released, increases ATK by 6%, stacking up to 2 time(s). This effect lasts for 10s.

Another close contender, just behind Emerald Sentence. She can maintain 100% uptime over the 2 stacks of ATK through constant stance switching.

(I would squeeze Lumingloss in here, as at R5 you get 64% Heavy Attack DMG increase upon casting a resonance skill. But it's a battle pass weapon, and R5 means that you should've gotten the battle pass 5 times, then refine those weapons together, too much of a hassle, and by that point you likely have Emerald of Genesis already)

⚪ Somnoire Anchor [4 star event weapon]

  • +462 Base ATK
  • +18.2% ATK
  • Gain 1 stack of Hiss when dealing damage to the target, with 1 stack generated every 1s. Hiss: each stack increases the wielder's ATK by 4% for 3s, stacking up to 10 times. Switching off the wielder clears all stacks. Gaining 10 stacks increases the wielder's Crit. Rate by 12%.

Seeing as Yangyang X fits the classic hypercarry archetype that takes a lot of field time (unlike Vanilla Yangyang), she'll be able to gain the 40% ATK buff, and the relevant 12% Crit Rate buff, albeit VERY late on her rotation.

🟢Fables of Wisdom [4 star craftable weapon]

  • +462 Base ATK
  • +18.2% ATK
  • Dealing DMG to enemies with Negative Statuses increases the wielder's ATK by 8% for 10s. This effect can be triggered 1 time per second, stackable up to 4 times.

Since Yangyang X actively attacks enemies who are under Havoc Bane, she can maintain 100% uptime over this 32% ATK buff.

၊၊||၊ Sonata sets ၊၊||၊

🪶Song of Feathered Oath

  • 2 Set: Energy Regen +10%
  • 5 Set: Upon inflicting Havoc Bane, gain Xuanling's Feather, which grants a 20% increase in Crit. Rate and 35% increase in Heavy Attack DMG Bonus to the Resonator, lasting 15s. Upon inflicting Glacio Chafe, gain Chongming's Feather, which grants a 0.1% increase in ATK to Resonators in the team for every 1% of the Resonator's Energy Regen, up to 25%, lasting 10s.

Realistically, her best and only great option. Free crit rate and free heavy dmg bonus.

For the main echo slot:

  • Thousand-Puppet Pavilion: After casting gain 4 Blades of Thousand Memories, when the resonator inflicts havoc bane, 1 Blade will be consumed to deal extra damage. Also grants an unconditional 12% Havoc DMG bonus and 12% Heavy Attack DMG bonus

𖦹 Havoc Eclipse

  • 2 Set: Havoc DMG increases by 10%.
  • 5 Set: Upon using Basic Attack or Heavy Attack, Havoc DMG increases by 7.5%, stacking up to four times for 15s.

Do not deliberately farm this set for her, Song of Feathered Oath is superior. HOWEVER, if you have a great Havoc Eclipse set aside, you can temporarily give it to her while you farm for her intended sonata set

Regarding main stats of echoes:

  • 4-cost: Crit DMG%
  • 3-cost 1: Havoc DMG bonus
  • 3-cost 2: Havoc DMG bonus/ATK (With the amount of DMG% bonuses she already gets on her own, an ATK% echo will work nearly as fine as a Havoc DMG one)
  • Both 1-cost echoes: ATK%

👥Teammates

Even if you don't have her premium options, Yangyang X can benefit from 4 star teammates and still be competitively strong.

✶ Premium Options ✶:

𖣘 Suisui

  • After casting her Resonance Liberation, when a resonator consumes havoc bane stacks on a target (so Yangyang X for now), said resonator's havoc DMG ignores the target's DEF by 6% and Havoc RES by 12% for 30 seconds.
  • +20% ATK increase (From signature weapon)
  • +25% ATK increase (From Song of Feathered Oath's Glacio Chafe related buff)
  • Outro skill:
    • +25% DMG amplification
    • Increased interruption resistance
    • +12% DMG increase
    • +50% ATK increase after the resonator consumes negative status stacks
  • Healer

🔺Chisa

  • Aka miss bitcoin
  • +18% DEF ignore
  • Increases the maximum havoc bane stacks by 3 (which also translates to a 12% def shred; each stack reduces DEF by 2%. It can also be an 18% DEF shred if you have Yangyang X's third sequence)
  • +24% Attribute DMG bonus (From signature weapon)
  • +15% ATK (If you run Rej. Glow on her)
    • +10% ATK (After casting the echo "Fallacy of No Return")
    • +10% teamwide DMG boost (After casting the echo "Bell-Borne Geochelone")

  • Sub-DPS

Phrolova

  • +20% Havoc DMG amp
  • +25% Heavy attack DMG amp

  • THANK YOU Solon King for fulfilling my wet dream and letting me put Yangyang and Rover in the same team while being viable

🕯️Mortefi

  • +20% ATK
  • +38% Heavy attack DMG amplification
  • +10% ATK (From Static Mist)
  • +22.5% ATK (From Moonlit Clouds)
    • +12% DMG dealt (Outro skill after casting the echo "Impermanence Heron")
    • +10% DMG boost (After casting the echo "Bell-Borne Geochelone")

🩸Danjin

  • +20% ATK
  • +23% Havoc DMG amplification
  • +22.5% ATK (From Moonlit Clouds)
    • +12% DMG dealt (Outro skill after casting the echo "Impermanence Heron")
    • +10% DMG boost (After casting the echo "Bell-Borne Geochelone")
  • Sub-DPS (unless you've already committed to the insanity of main DPS solo Danjin)

Team Comps

These aren't ranked btw.

  • Yangyang X - Chisa - Suisui (Will be her best team for now. In this specific team, Chisa will be better off with moonlit clouds instead of rej. glow)
  • Yangyang X - Rebecca - Chisa/Suisui
  • Yangyang X - Phrolova - Chisa/Suisui
  • Yangyang X - Mortefi - Chisa/Suisui
  • Yangyang X - Electro Rover - Chisa/Suisui
  • Yangyang X - Danjin - Chisa/Suisui
  • Yangyang X - Every second option I mentioned above - Verina/Shorekeeper
  • Yangyang X - Vanilla Yangyang - Suisui (HER ACTUAL best team. Double the Yangyang plus Yangyang's sister, trust me guys this 100% tops the Suisui + Chisa team.>!Don't actually do this.!<)

📄Tips

  • Her resonance skills (be it enhanced or not) have a unique dodge property. Simply put, if you cast the stance switch when you're about to be attacked, then that attack will be nullified, and Yangyang will immediately consume 50 points of the melody bar, allowing you to gain faster access to either her next enhanced res. skill or to another point of Azure Plume
  • Her best rotation involves doing 2 enhanced heavy attacks consecutively:
    • Intro Skill (+1 Azure Plume.)
    • Cast echo skill
      • From here, in case you are still in the Feather Stance, quickly switch back to the Azure stance with her resonance skill
    • Basic Azure Attacks till you deplete all melody
    • Enhanced res. skill into Feather stance
    • Heavy attack: Feather
      • Heavy Attack: Feather Sword
      • Mid Air attack: Feather Fall
      • Havoc In Bloom Consecutive attacks
    • Resonance Liberation (+1 Azure Plume. Next resonance skill is enhanced)
    • Enhanced Resonance Skill (Switch into Azure stance)
    • From here you can go down two paths:
      • Path A: Heavy Attack: Azure (Don't switch stances. This is known as the 1F1A rotation, it deals less damage but it's more consistent)
      • Path B: Heavy Attack: Feather + Havoc in bloom (Switch stances before doing a heavy attack. This is known as the 2F rotation, Yangyang takes up more time on field and it's more strict, but she'll deal more damage)
    • Outro skill
  • A variation of the rotation above which I use (and the one I personally found to be the most comfortable) has her liberation be squeezed in between the first Feather Fall and Havoc in Bloom instead, as Feather Fall already uses up all Azure Plume and those two are disjointed attacks.

I don't just "like" Yangyang, I LOVE her, best girl since 1.0, she has finally ascended to greatness. This guide was also somewhat made from the hatred I have over sheets and calcs (I can't read that shit, it's too confusing). Hope this was helpful. Live, love, praise Yangyang ❤️

Since the comeback of the reverb convene, has your pulling plan changed in any way?

Originally I was going for both Yangyang and Suisui, but Jinhsi was another character i've also wanted for so long since I took an extended break from the game, so now I'll go all out for Queenyang, then Jinhsi, then if I have enough, maybe Suisui (w/out signature) and if SOMEHOW i get lucky enough, Zhezhi as well, and everyone else gets skipped

What about y'all?

"Hey so if I don't have Chisa, who can I replace her with in my Yangyang Xuanling te-?"

Good thing I have Chisa, otherwise over my dead body am I building Phrolova (Problem that no one can relate to but me. She's been rotting in my account since 2.8)

Explain the terminology behind calculation sheets like if i was a toddler

Title, I will never use these things but i'm still curious as to how y'all can even grasp these things and concepts

I tried searching here what each term meant to no avail, seems like everyone already knows what those terms are. So far i've had one person tell me what the term DPR means, "Damage per rotation", I'm curious if there are more obscure terms i'm not aware of

How 2 Yangyang 4★ DPS (3.3) - Updated

This is a more polished guide from the last one i made, mainly because I want to see both Yangyang and Yangyang SP deal dmg simultaneously while being in the same team (2 Yangyangs are better than one)

♫ Forte Circuit - Melody ♫

Yangyang has 4 different ways of gaining forte stacks:

  • 4th basic attack
  • Res. Skill
  • Intro skill
  • Zephyr Song
    • Heavy Attack or Dodge counter + Basic attack = Zephyr Song

At max (3) stacks, she'll gain access to the following attacks, which are stronger relative to their non-enhanced counterparts:

  • ‌Heavy Attack/Dodge counter -> Stormy Strike (Considered a heavy attack, does not spend Melody Stacks)
  • ‌Mid-air attack -> Feathers Release (Considered a basic attack, spends all Melody Stacks)

♪ Sequence nodes ♪

  • S1: A nice +15% Aero DMG bonus upon casting intro skill, which adds up to 23% due to her inherent skill that grants another 8% from the same conditions
  • S2: Flat +10 energy after casting a heavy attack, can be triggered once every 20 seconds, not much to say about this one besides being a nice thing to have
  • S3: Permanent +40% res. skill dmg bonus. The pulling effect of her attacks is stronger, and the range is expanded by 33%, enhancing her crowd control capabilities
  • S4: Feather's Release DMG is increased by 95%. Straight up direct upgrade to her DPS, with this you'd want to make sure to get several basic attack DMG bonuses
  • S5: Res. Liberation DMG is increased by 85%. Another upgrade to her DPS to her already strong liberation
  • S6: +20% ATK after casting Feather's Release. Extremely valuable, as Yangyang really wants any source of ATK% to make up for her low base atk

⚔︎ Weapons ⚔︎

  • 5 stars will be considered as being R1
  • 4 stars will be considered as being R5

🌌 Emerald of Genesis [5 star] 🌌

  • 587 base atk
  • 24.3% Crit Rate
  • 12.8% Energy Regeneration
  • 6% ATK bonus after casting a resonance skill for 10 seconds
    • She can't gain the two ATK% stacks this weapon can provide, as the cooldown of her resonance skill also lasts for 10 seconds. She can, however, maintain 100% uptime with the 6% ATK bonus

The high base attack of this weapon helps her offset her own low base attack of 250 and the extra energy regen allows her to cast her liberation far more consistently, overall her best in slot.

🌸 Red Spring [5 star] 🌸

  • 587 base ATK
  • 24.3% Crit Rate
  • 12% ATK
  • 10% Basic Attack DMG bonus upon casting Basic attacks, up to 30% BA DMG bonus

More focus on the damage that Feather's Release deals while also granting a nice ATK bonus. Sidegrade/minor downgrade relative to Emerald of genesis due to the lack of ER%

🔥 Blazing Brilliance [5 star] 🔥

  • +587 base ATK
  • +48.6% Crit DMG
  • +12% ATK
  • +4% Res. Skill dmg bonus after dealing damage (+1 stack) and casting res. skill (+5 stacks), this buff stacks up to 14 times/56% skill DMG bonus*

Partial downgrade compared to the options above since she already has 40% Res. Skill DMG bonus from her S3, this weapon would only bring diminishing returns for an attack that comes once every 10 seconds. However, if you lack said Sequence, if (somehow) it's the only 5 star sword you own and/or if you have an insane Crit Rate echo, you can comfortably use this weapon.

🟣Endless Collapse [4 star]

  • +462 Base ATK
  • +18.2% ATK
  • Gain +10 Flat Energy and 20% ATK after casting res. skill, lasts for 16 seconds. These effects can be retriggered after 20 seconds

"What if Emerald of Genesis gave birth" the weapon. Overall a nice F2P all rounder, granting ATK everywhere with the only downside of having to wait 4 seconds for the ATK% buff to be retriggered.

Somnoire Anchor [4 star event weapon]

  • +462 Base ATK
  • +18.2% ATK
  • +4% ATK after dealing damage, stacking up to 10 times (1 sec cooldown between each stack gained). At 10 stacks, gain 8% Crit Rate

I'll confidently say this is a downgrade compared to even Endless Collapse, considering she'll take a minimum of 10 seconds to get all of those stacks regardless of how fast she is. 40% Attack and 8% Crit Rate sounds nice but by that time you've also already lost her own 23% Aero DMG bonus from the intro skill.
HOWEVER, this weapon is perfect and better than endless collapse whenever you want to do a solo run with her, since she'll be the only one the team.

၊၊||၊ Sonata sets ၊၊||၊

🍃Sierra Gale (5pc)

  • 2pc: 10% Aero DMG bonus
  • 5pc: 30% Aero DMG bonus after casting Intro skill

With this set, plus her own +23% Aero DMG bonus, she gains 53% Aero DMG bonus from an intro skill alone, for 8 seconds (+10% permanent Aero DMG bonus).

For the main echo slot, ranked:

  1. Nightmare: Feilian Beringal
    • Unconditional 12% Aero DMG bonus and heavy attack DMG bonus. It is also a summon echo, so you can just cast it whenever it's off cooldown for extra damage
  2. Feilian Beringal
    • Buffs the same things as N:F.B., except it's conditional now, it requires you to cast the echo skill to gain those buffs
      • Do NOT dash cancel the echo, you have to wait until the monkey slams the massive chunk of tree down to gain the buffs, otherwise you won't get anything.
  3. Cyan Feathered Heron
    • This echo doesn't bring any benefits compared to the options above, nor does it have the highest damage option, however, it is a nice burst option for early builds, and you can make great use of its unique parrying properties for attacks with a red flash against specific bosses.

🍃 Windward Pilgrimage

  • 2pc: 10% Aero DMG bonus
  • 5pc: After hitting an enemy inflicted with Aero Erosion, gain 30% Aero DMG bonus and 10% Crit Rate

Upgrade from Sierra Gale, however you're trading team flexibility for increased personal damage, as only 2 SUPPORT characters so far can apply Aero Erosion, and one of them also depends on another character to even apply Aero Erosion (Aero Rover). If you lack these options or don't want to build them, stick with Sierra Gale.

For the main echo slot, ranked:

  1. Nightmare: Kelpie:
    • Kelpie grants an unconditional 12% Aero DMG bonus... and that's it (The glacio dmg bonus might as well not exist). Kelpie also allows Yangyang to have another burst option by casting her outro skill, which will make him deal 405% Aero DMG. This attack is a separate ability from the echo skill button and does not have a cooldown. This burst option makes her stronger in a quickswap setting (Thank you so much u/Severe-Two-8822 for giving me this insight, i legitimately did not know about this). If you plan to use this, only cast the echo skill button once you're about to swap out.
  2. Kerasaur:
    • 12% Aero DMG bonus and 12% Liberation DMG bonus, both buffs are something Yangyang heavily benefits from. It also has quite the high damage output, although it comes with the downside of being a transform echo that takes too long to attack as well. If you plan to use this, only cast the echo skill button once you're about to swap out.
  3. Reminiscence: Fleurdelys
    • Fleurdelys grants 10% Aero DMG bonus, technically the worst one in terms of both buffing and damage, but it comes with the benefit of being a summon echo that you can just pop whenever you like, only consider using this if it's your best 4-cost echo and you've gotten straight garbage from the options above

🧷Moonlit Clouds — Sub-DPS focused>!(Ik i said this was a main dps guide build, but i felt like i should add this set either way)!<

  • 2pc: +10% Energy Regen
  • 5pc: After using Outro Skill, increases the ATK of the next Resonator by 22.5% for 15s.

If Yangyang SP ends up scaling off ATK and if you end up pairing her with Yangyang SP, this'll be her best option>!(PLEASE don't, I want to see her scale off HP or literally ANYTHING else so i don't have to convert the hard earned Sierra Gale set that Yangyang 4* has into tubes and tuners)!<

For the main echo slot:

  1. Impermanence Heron
    • After casting this echo, if the wielder uses an outro skill, the next character's DMG increases by 12%. Ideal for Yangyang SP hypercarry build
  2. Bell-Borne Geochelone
    • After casting this echo, the whole team gains a 10% DMG boost for 15 seconds, disappears earlier if everyone in the team gets collectively hit thrice. Ideal for a dual DPS build with two Yangyangs

🥀2pc/2pc options (Unlucky-Lucky)

Only consider using this if you have absolutely insane echoes from different sets or if you're planning to do a solo challenge with her.

2pc combination options:

  • Sierra Gale (+10% Aero DMG)
  • Windward Pilgrimage (+10% Aero DMG)
  • Gusts of Welkin (+10% Aero DMG)
  • Sound of True name (+10% Aero DMG)
  • Lingering Tunes (+10% ATK, last resort option)
  • Reel of Spliced Memores (+10% ATK, last resort option)
  • Moonlit clouds (+10% Energy Regen, last[er] resort option)

In all 2pc + 2pc scenarios, for the main echo slot:

  1. Lady of the Sea
    • Similarly to Kerasaur, she grants an unconditional 12% Aero DMG bonus and 12% Liberation DMG bonus, both buffs are something Yangyang heavily benefits from. This echo also grants another traction option into her kit upon casting it, further expanding her crowd control options
  2. Reminiscence: Fenrico
    • This is essentially another Nightmare: Feilian Beringal; 12% Aero DMG bonus and 12% Heavy Attack DMG bonus, and they both deal nearly the same amount of damage.
  3. Any other echo that grants Aero DMG bonus
    • Since 2pc + 2pc sets are flexible, any echo that grants an Aero DMG bonus will do just fine in the main echo slot.

🦚Echo setup (for all scenarios): 43311

  • 4 cost: Crit Rate/DMG
    • If Crit DMG weapon -> Crit Rate echo
    • If Crit Rate weapon -> Crit DMG echo
    • If no crit weapon -> Crit Rate echo
  • 3 cost: Aero DMG bonus
  • 3 cost: ATK% or Aero DMG bonus (It'll depend on your build, but preferably go for an ATK% echo)
    • If you're running moonlit clouds, you can also (very rarely) consider an energy regen% echo
  • 1 cost echo: ATK%
  • 1 cost echo: ATK%

🦚Ideal echo substats:

  • Crit Rate
  • Crit DMG
  • ATK%
  • Energy Regen% (Ideally, you'd want her to have +130% ER)
  • Basic Attack DMG bonus
  • Res. Liberation DMG bonus
  • Flat ATK

👥Teammates

🩵Yangyang Xuanling (Best option, S-tier choice, Meta pick, waifu pick, Tops every other team in the game effective immediately):

We don't know yet if they both work with one another, but come on, this is two Yangyangs in one team, imagine having two Yangyangs in the same team dude, so cool, she's the best girl

✶ Premium Options ✶:

💠 Shorekeeper 💠

  • +12.5% Crit Rate
  • +25% Crit DMG
  • +15% DMG amplification
  • +14% ATK (From her signature weapon)
  • +30% ATK (From Rej. Glow)
    • +10% ATK (After casting the echo "Fallacy of No Return")
    • +10% DMG boost (After casting the echo "Bell-Borne Geochelone")
  • Healer

🏁 Lynae 🏁

  • +15% DMG amplification
  • +25% Liberation DMG amplification
  • +24% all-type DMG bonus
  • +24% DMG dealt (From her signature weapon)
  • +30% ATK (From Pact of Neonlight Leap)
  • +10% Attribute DMG bonus (From an outro skill if Hyvatia is in her main echo slot)
  • Sub-DPS

💥 Mornye 💥

  • +25% DMG amplification.
  • +25% ATK buff (From Halo of Starry Radiance).
  • +20% Crit DMG (From her signature weapon).
  • Applies a debuff onto enemies which makes them take 40% more damage.
    • KEEP IN MIND, she either requires someone to inflict "Tune Rupture" in order to trigger this effect (so Lynae), or her first sequence to ignore this requirement all together.
  • Healer.

☘️ Ciaconna ☘️

  • +24% Aero DMG bonus.
  • +15% Aero DMG bonus (From the Gusts of Welkin set).
    • Since Ciaconna can inflict Aero Erosion, Yangyang can comfortably use the Windward Pilgrimage set.
  • Applies a debuff that removes 10% Aero RES from enemies (From her signature weapon).
  • Sub-DPS.

✦ F2P Options ✦:

Verina: >!(Veri-FRAUD)!<

  • +20% ATK
  • +15% All-type DMG amplification
  • +30% ATK (From Rej. Glow)
    • +10% ATK (After casting the echo "Fallacy of No Return")
    • +10% DMG boost (After casting the echo "Bell-Borne Geochelone")
  • Healer
  • I want you shot dead and buried 20 meters underground

⚔️ Aero Rover ⚔️

  • +26% Aero DMG amplification (From their signature Bloodpact's Pledge)
  • +30% ATK (If using Rej. Glow)
    • +10% ATK (From casting the echo "Fallacy of No Return")
    • +10% DMG boost (After casting the echo "Bell-Borne Geochelone")
  • +15% Aero DMG bonus (From the Gusts of Welkin set).
    • Since Aero Rover can inflict Aero Erosion, Yangyang can comfortably use the Windward Pilgrimage set.
      • HOWEVER, Aero Rover has to CONVERT existing negative status effects that are already inflicted on the enemy into Aero Erosion, so he requires another character that can apply another negative status effect that isn't Aero Erosion. The most accesible option will be Buling; if you don't have anyone else who can inflict negative status, stick with Rej. Glow instead.
  • Sub-DPS and Healer

☯️ Buling ☯️

  • +15% All-type DMG amplification
  • +30% ATK (If using Rej. Glow)
    • +10% ATK (After casting the echo "Fallacy of No Return")
    • +10% DMG boost (After casting the echo "Bell-Borne Geochelone")
  • +25% Res. Skill DMG bonus
    • Can be brought to 50% with her S6
  • Can consistently inflict Electro Flare onto enemies

❄️ Sanhua ❄️

  • +38% Basic Attack DMG amplification
  • +22.5% ATK (From Moonlit Clouds)
    • +12% DMG dealt (Outro skill after casting the echo "Impermanence Heron")
    • +10% DMG boost (After casting the echo "Bell-Borne Geochelone")
  • Both Yangyang and Sanhua are capable of recovering concerto energy at very fast speeds. This, in turn, made both of them the pioneer quickswap team in wuwa's early days, and they still are. Pairing both of them together gives you the benefit of learning the art of quickswapping without spending a dime.

Aalto ⛵

  • +23% Aero DMG amplification
  • +22.5% ATK (From Moonlit Clouds)
    • +12% DMG dealt (Outro skill after casting the echo "Impermanence Heron")
    • +10% DMG boost (After casting the echo "Bell-Borne Geochelone")
  • +10% ATK (From Static Mist)
  • Sub-DPS

❄️ Baizhi ❄️

  • +15% DMG amplification
  • +15% ATK bonus (After picking up "Euphonia", aka the feather)
  • +30% ATK (If using Rej. Glow)
    • +10% ATK (After casting the echo "Fallacy of No Return")
    • +10% DMG boost (After casting the echo "Bell-Borne Geochelone")
  • +14% ATK (From Shorekeeper's signature weapon)
  • Healer
  • You're better than kid Veri-FRAUD

📄Tips

These tips come from my own personal experience by playing Yangyang as a main DPS for several patches in a row, feel free to add more.

  • Yangyang's max dps window lasts for 8 seconds, this is due to her already mentioned 23% Aero DMG bonus buff lasting for that long, therefore it is generally better to slot her in a quickswap team.
  • Fastest way of getting 3 forte stacks, assuming you're starting from 0, is:
    1. Intro skill -> Plunge attack (+1)
    2. Res. Skill (+1)
    3. Heavy Attack -> Zephyr Song (+1)
  • To get the most amount of damage in the shortest amount of time, do the following rotation:
    • Intro skill
    • Plunge Attack (Ignore if you have max forte stacks)
    • Cast Skill
    • Heavy attack into Zephyr Song (Ignore if you have max forte stacks)
    • Cast Liberation
    • Jump
    • Cast Feathers Release
    • Outro Skill
  • Cast Feathers Release (If available) while her Res. Liberation is still active to squeeze in as much damage as possible.
    • In a quickswap team, if possible, try to outro skill after casting Feather's Release. This is due to Yangyang not having any sort of interruption resistance built in her kit; swapping out while Feather's Release animation is still going gives her that kind of universal pseudo-interruption resistance

QueenYang tops every other character in game easily, no diff

Greatest comeback (IF she ever gets one) of the best girl in the history of this game, i don't care if i have to wait until 5.x, 6.x, 7.x, hell, i don't care if i have to wait until the release of Wuthering Waves 2, she's the best one out of every character in this game

u/m_studio_x — 4 months ago

This is something I've thought about writing for some time, without mentioning the fact that 4* character guides, especially in DPS scenarios, are quite neglected, so why not do one? Also because live love laugh Yangyang 🌹(This guide assumes your Yangyang is at S6)

Forte Circuit - Melody

Yangyang has 4 different ways of gaining forte stacks:

  • Last hit of 5th basic attack
  • Res. Skill
  • Intro skill
  • Zephyr Song (Heavy Attack or Dodge counter -> Basic attack = Zephyr Song)

At max (3) stacks, her heavy attack and plunge attack will be enhanced to "Stormy Strike" and "Feather Release" respectively. The enhanced heavy attack can be neglected since it's mainly just a bridge for Feather Release and it can be replaced with a normal jump instead.

Upon casting Feather Release, gain a 20% ATK buff (at S6). Yangyang will then deal several slashes mid-air before landing, then she'll deal two stronger attacks in a moderately big radius (gets stronger with her S5)

Weapons (5 stars at R1; 4 stars at R1/R5):

Emerald of Genesis [5 star]

  • 587 base atk
  • 24.3% Crit Rate
  • 12.8% Energy Regeneration
  • 6% ATK bonus after casting a res. skill (It SHOULD be 12%, but she can't gain the second stack due to her 10 sec long skill cd, which is how long this ATK buff lasts)

Her best overall option, this weapon mainly helps with increasing her low base attack (250) to benefit more from ATK% buffs and it helps her reach the minimum of 130% Energy regen stat more easily

♦️Red Spring [5 star]

  • 587 base ATK
  • 24.3% Crit Rate
  • 12% ATK
  • 10% Basic Attack DMG bonus upon casting Basic attacks, up to 30% BA DMG bonus

(Haven't tested it myself since i don't own the weapon) Useful to increase the damage of her Feather Release, i'd say this is more of a sidegrade or a microscopic downgrade to Emerald of Genesis

🔶Blazing Brilliance [5 star]

  • +587 base ATK
  • +48.6% Crit DMG
  • +12% ATK
  • +4% Res. Skill dmg bonus after dealing damage (+1 stack) and casting res. skill (+5 stacks), this buff stacks up to 14 times/56% skill DMG bonus

(Haven't tested it myself since i don't own the weapon) Wouldn't recommend this since she already gets 40% Res. Skill DMG bonus from her S3, another 56% isn't really worth it considering it will only buff something that comes once every 10 seconds, however if you lack Red Spring and (somehow) Emerald of Genesis or if you own an insane 4-cost Crit Rate weapon, you can comfortably use this one

Somnoire Anchor [4 star, event weapon, ignore if you don't have it]

  • +462 Base ATK
  • +18.2% ATK
  • +2%/4% ATK after dealing damage, stacking 10 times. At 10 stacks, gain 4%/8% Crit Rate

(Haven't tested it myself since i missed my shot of getting the weapon 😔🔫) I guess you can get those 10 stacks quite easily, considered Yangyang's kit is bloated with multihits, nice option if you have it.

🟣Endless Collapse [4 star]

  • +462 Base ATK
  • +18.2% ATK
  • +Grant 6/10 Flat Energy and 10%/20% ATK after casting res. skill, lasts for 16 seconds. These effects can be retriggered after 20 seconds

"What if Emerald of Genesis gave birth" ass weapon. Overall a nice F2P all rounder, granting ATK everywhere with the only downside of having to wait 4 seconds for the ATK% buff to be retriggered

Sonata sets

🍃Sierra Gale (5pc)

  • 2pc: 10% Aero DMG bonus
  • 5pc: 30% Aero DMG bonus after casting Intro skill

Quite literally the best option for her since she also gains another 23% Aero DMG bonus from:

  • Inherent Skill II (+8% by casting Intro skill)
  • Sequence 1 (+15% by casting Intro skill)

Meaning that she wants to cast her intro skill either way. If you do use this set, you should consider using a 3-cost ATK% echo instead of going with dual 3-cost Aero DMG%, this is to both avoid overflowing with Aero DMG bonus and to reach the ~2000 ATK (unbuffed) stat most DPS characters like to have (In Yangyang's case, it's fine if its lower due to her low base atk, just make sure it doesn't drop from 1950)

For the main echo slot:

  • Nightmare: Feilian Beringal
    • Unconditional 12% Aero DMG bonus (The heavy attack bonus is negligible), it is also a summon echo, so you can just cast it whenever she's in the field for extra damage
  • Feilian Beringal
    • Same thing as Nightmare, except you have to cast the echo skill to gain the 12% Aero DMG bonus, this is a transform echo, however it also hits harder compared to Nightmare so this is a microscopic downgrade to Nightmare. DO make sure to not dash-cancel Feilian Beringal's animation, as the buff is only granted once the monkey slams down his big, thick chunk of wood.

🍃 Windward Pilgrimage

  • 2pc: 10% Aero DMG bonus
  • 5pc: 30% Aero DMG bonus + 10% Crit Rate after hitting an enemy who currently has any stack of Aero Erosion

This one could be an upgrade from Sierra Gale, however it is more expensive since the options for teammates are limited, if you happen to own said characters, it is worth using/farming this set

For the main echo slot:

  • Nightmare: Kelpie:
    • Kelpie grants an unconditional 12% Aero DMG bonus... and that's it (The glacio dmg bonus might as well not exist), it also deals 405% Aero DMG upon casting an outro skill
  • Reminiscence: Fleurdelys
    • This is rather a downgrade from Kelpie in terms of buffing (+10% Aero DMG bonus) and a bit in damage, however if you already own one with extremely insane substats, go for it.

🥀2pc/2pc options (Unlucky-Lucky)

Only consider this if you have absolutely insane echoes from different sets.

2pc combination options:

  • Sierra Gale (+10% Aero DMG)
  • Windward Pilgrimage (+10% Aero DMG)
  • Gusts of Welkin(+10% Aero DMG)
  • Sound of True name (+10% Aero DMG)
  • Lingering Tunes (+10% ATK, last resort)

In all 2pc/2pc scenarios, for the main echo slot:

  • Lady of the Sea
    • Unconditional 12% Aero DMG bonus and 12% Liberation DMG bonus

Echo setup: 43311

  • 4 cost: Crit Rate/DMG
    • If Crit DMG weapon -> Crit Rate echo
    • If Crit Rate weapon -> Crit DMG echo
    • If no crit weapon -> Crit Rate echo
  • 3 cost: Aero DMG bonus
  • 3 cost: ATK% / Aero DMG bonus
  • 1 cost echo: ATK%
  • 1 cost echo: ATK%

Ideal echo substats:

  • Crit Rate
  • Crit DMG
  • ATK%
  • Energy Regeneration (Ideally, everything should add up to over 125% ER)
  • Basic Attack DMG bonus
  • Res. Liberation DMG bonus
  • Flat ATK

👥Teammates

💫Premium Options:

🔷Shorekeeper (Ai but hot)

12.5% Crit Rate, 25% Crit DMG, 15% DMG amplification, makes great use of the Rejuvenating glow set for an extra 30% ATK, grants another 14% ATK with her signature weapon, she's Yangyang's daughter (my headcanon). Overall the best option for her and, by extension, any team.

🔶Lynae (Gyaru)
15% DMG amplification, 25% Liberation DMG amplification, 24% all-type DMG bonus, 30% ATK from her support sonata set and another 10% all type dmg bonus if Hyvatia is in her main echo slot, can use Static Mist if you don't own her signature, she might as well be a weapon herself with every buff here.

♦️Mornye (Conditional)
25% DMG amplification, 25% ATK buff from her dedicated sonata set and she debuffs enemies by making them take 40% more damage, HOWEVER, this last buff requires the enemies to be inflicted with tune rupture or tune strain, so she either needs to be paired with Lynae who can apply these debuffs or her S1 to get rid of said conditions.

✦ F2P Options:

🥀Verina (I want this kid buried 6 feet underground):

-Massive amounts of ATK buffs and dmg amplification, another great user of the rejuvenating glow set which further boosts how much ATK she grants, great option, please die

❄️Sanhua

-Both Yangyang and Sanhua are capable of regenerating concerto extremely quickly and were the epitome of quickswap teams back in the early days of wuwa, and they both enable each other:

Yangyang groups enemies for Sanhua -> Sanhua bursts her ice formations -> Sanhua grants Yangyang 38% Basic attack DMG bonus -> Yangyang's Feather Release damage is boosted -> repeat.

Aalto (Fix your FUCKING boat)

-Free 23% Aero DMG amplification, can also make use of Static Mist to grant another 10% ATK.

❄️Baizhi (You're better than Verina in my heart)

-15% DMG amplification and 15% ATK bonus after picking up Euphoria (i hate this thing). Great user of Rejuvenating Glow to further grant another 30% ATK, can also make use of Shorekeeper's signature for another 14% ATK buff, breasts

🟣Buling (Bling bling)

-Shorekeeper's daughter. Great healer, deals somewhat respectable amount of damage (if you upgrade her forte), grants 15% DMG amplification to the whole team and 25% res. skill dmg bonus, doesn't really need that much investment, a decent option (my personal favorite as well)

🍀For whenever Yangyang uses the Windward Pilgrimage set (not necessary, but come on, 10% crit rate)

🟢Ciaconna (I don't have a snarky comment for her, she's whatever ig)

-24% Aero DMG bonus and another 15% from the gusts of welkin set

🟢Aero Rover (Hot)

-Og ship. They're only here because Bloodpact's Pledge exists, which grants a 26% Aero DMG amplification for the team, and it can only be triggered by Aero Rover.

-Great user of Rejuvenating Glow

-They can use the Gusts of welkin set to grant another 15% Aero DMG bonus, set IF they have another teammate that can trigger Negative Status effects such as Buling

🌆Tips

Some of these could be wrong, i'm simply talking from experience, feel free to correct me or add more.

  • Yangyang's max dps window lasts for 8 seconds, this is due to her already mentioned 23% Aero DMG bonus buff lasting for that long, therefore it is generally better to slot her in a quickswap team.
  • Fastest way of getting 3 forte stacks is [Intro skill -> Res. Skill -> Heavy Attack -> Zephyr Song]
  • To make sure she deals as much damage in the shortest amount of time, go with this order:
    • Intro skill
    • Plunge Attack (Ignore if you have max forte stacks)
    • Heavy attack into Zephyr Song (Ignore if you have max forte stacks)
    • Cast Skill
    • Cast Liberation
    • Jump
    • Cast Feathers Release
    • Outro Skill

Since Yangyang can act while her liberation is still active, she can cast Feathers Release before the big shot of the liberation to gain the 20% ATK bonus, and after swapping out she can safely trigger the damage of her enhanced plunge attack without the fear of being knocked out of it.

End

This is my first time doing a guide like this, Yangyang is one of my favorite characters of all time, I've mained her since 1.0 and I hope her 5 star version ends up becoming a reality so I can pair her with her 4 star version.
