I recently got a new pair of D2.Ones from an online retailer and they finally got delivered.
One question though, the sole has signs of scuff and I can tell the toe rubber has been worn down slightly wear the tip is.
Just checking if this is normal, or something i should check if I should check with Mad Rock for a replacement?
Hi all, I have been climbing since the start of the year, currently at around an intermediate level and while I really enjoy the sport, I have had alot of trouble looking for a pair of shoes that suit me.
I have a wide toe box, low instep with flat feet and a narrow heel, making finding a shoe that fits me really difficult.
For context, I am about a US 11 in sizing and currently wearing a pair of Tenaya Arumas in size 10.5. The toe box fits okay and having the draxtor loop helps to rein in my flat foot. But it has a really baggy heel, the toe rubber is really thin, bruising my foot during toe hooks and it is too soft for my liking.
Before this I had a pair of Evolv Kronos in 10.5 that I really liked and had much better sizing in my toes and heel except for a glaring issue where the toe rubber on the shoe was pressing too hard on my big toe and causing pain in my big toe joint that worsened overtime, till it made smearing or standing on small chips impossible.
The pain has went away after switching to my Arumas, but I am just on the look out for something else that may suit me better.
Currently some shoes I have my eye on,
- Tenaya Mastia : I tried these at my local shop, these fit my toes perfectly, much more so than my arumas, except for the issues i mentioned with a baggy heel and velcro strap leaving too much space on top of the shoe.
- Scarpa Instinct VSR LV : From what I've read, the instincts seem to suit others with my foot type, with the main complaint being the heel on Scarpa shoes being baggy as well.
- Evolv Shaman 2S : I am looking at the new shamans as I quite liked the rubber Evolv uses on their shoes and I am curious to try their new EVO-74 compound. The country I am in hasn't stocked them yet, so the main concern holding me back is if the shoe may cause the same issue in my toe joint as with my Kronos.
- Unparallel TN Pro : Read good things about the TNs possibly fitting me, haven't had the chance to try them out but I do know that there is a retailer in my country that sells them.
Looking to hear the opinions of everyone on this subreddit and if they have managed to try the shoes I mentioned and how they compare with each other!
