Confused About Staying in Science vs Switching for UPSC

my_qualifications

I’m really confused about whether I should continue with science and pursue a B.Sc. or switch directions completely because of family pressure.I had PCM in 11th and 12th, and while I don’t enjoy maths or physics much, I still like chemistry and subjects related to biology/geology more than the other PCM subjects. The problem is that my father wants me to prepare for UPSC eventually and thinks humanities subjects are necessary for that, so he wants me to move away from science. But from what I understand, UPSC can be given after graduation in any subject, and people from science backgrounds clear it too.At the same time, I keep hearing people say that a B.Sc. in India is “not worth it” or doesn’t have good scope unless you go for higher studies, which is making me even more confused. I also feel like staying in science would at least keep options like research open for me in the future if I ever want to pursue that path.I can surely do UOSC if I want to but it does not have to always be with bachelor's in arts.

My confusion is:

  1. Is pursuing a B.Sc. in India actually worth it nowadays?

  2. What are the disadvantages of doing a B.Sc. in subjects like Chemistry/Geology/Biology?

3)oes a humanities background genuinely give a huge advantage in UPSC, or can science students prepare from scratch too?

4)Would switching away from science close opportunities for me later?

I don’t want to make a decision purely because of pressure or because one path is considered “safer.” I’d really appreciate honest advice from people who’ve faced something similar.

Oh my god the only posts I have been seeing are those digilocker screenshots which is showing fetching for 12th class. It has been there since a long time now and it does not mean the results will come out today or tomorrow sure it can come who knows but the screen shots don't prove it. Digilocker will make a tweet about the results so you guys need to calm down and stop posting those screenshots because it's enough already. We all know results are going to come next week, there is no need to put yourself under stress and negative thoughts. Even I am in 12th, scared about results but it will come when it has to. Some people are saying copies are being checked, some are saying the process is at the end point, and you all are going to believe everything that is being put up here without literal proofs? No one really shares the activity which is being done under cbse unless it's a very close family member or a relative. You guys almost passed out when the 30th April rumour was spreading ,I also read a post about it being released on 5th may, nothing happened. I am in a similar situation as you guys but I can't really worry about it all day and stop focusing on my upcoming exams. And the fetching thing has been there not since yesterday but for a long time now. I would also like to request mods to remove all the misinformation that is being spread on this sub which doesn't claim any proofs because it is surely affecting students in numerous ways.

I pray all of you get the expected marks, sab paas ho jaoge, ache marks aayege sabke dw 🤍

Bro everywhere I see, some people are saying according to cbse officials it's coming out in the third week, some are saying second week, some are saying first week. Agar saare sach bol rahe hai toh juth kon bol raha hai bhai. Koi bol raha hai checking complete nahi hui koi bol raha hai checking ho gayi hai like wth? And it affects students more than people think, kuch baache toh so bhi nahi pa rahe because unnko ek daar hai ek tension hai and they feel something is not right including me too. We can't really trust what cbse says, we all remember what happened in 2024, right? I just wanted to vent it out because I keep on opening my phone after what 5 mins? To check if results have come, it's just so exhausting at this point. Some people are saying ki entrance pe focus kaaro and all but it's not easy at all, muje pata bhi toh chale ki fail hu ya paas? Abb bhi koi bolega ki aa gaye hai I won't believe a single thing they say kyuki haar koi alag alag cheeze bol raha hai aur agar phone baand kaar diya toh seedha result aayega toh aur jhatka lagega.
