[iOS] Looking for a few testers for Earncade — kids earn screen time by reading

Hi! I recently launched an iOS app called Earncade and I’m looking for a few people willing to test the first-time experience.

Earncade lets parents scan a physical book, generate reading-comprehension questions, and let kids earn screen time by completing the reading challenge.

I’d especially like feedback on this flow:

onboarding → scan a book → generate questions → complete the reading challenge → earn screen time

I’m most interested in:

  • anything confusing or clunky
  • where you get stuck
  • whether the flow makes sense without explanation
  • bugs or unexpected behavior

If you have a child around 6–10, even better, but general UX feedback is also useful.

Platform: iPhone / iPad
App Store: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/earncade/id6817504309

Happy to test your app in return too.

Parents of elementary-age kids: what actually happens when screen time ends in your house?

I’m a mom of two and I’ve been thinking a lot about how families actually manage screen time in real life.

With my older child, I’ve realized the hardest part often isn’t setting a limit — it’s what happens around the limit: negotiating for more time, reminders, transitions, and trying to balance screens with things like reading or homework.

I’m curious how this works in other families, especially with kids around elementary-school age.

A few things I’d love to hear about:

  • What happened the last time you had to end or limit screen time?
  • What usually causes the most friction?
  • What do you currently use — Apple Screen Time, Family Link, Bark, timers, rewards, just verbal rules, something else?
  • Have you tried tying screen time to reading, chores, homework, or other activities? Did it actually work?
  • Have you ever paid for an app or system to help with this? What made it worth paying for — or not?
  • How often does screen time turn into something you have to actively manage?

I’m especially interested in what people are already doing in real life, including the messy workarounds that “sort of work.”

Not looking for the perfect parenting philosophy — just curious what actually happens in your house.
