Hi all,

Just wanted to start this off by asking people to please be gentle, it’s been a long ass month and I’m literally laying on the floor next to my boy in his hospital tank bc I don’t wanna leave his side. I know this is a hard ask on Reddit, but this is a hard topic to deal with!

This is my second betta baby (as an adult I should say!) and my first child that I got to adopt and not rescue :’). Unfortunately, after I left Friday - Sunday I came back to some massive bloating starting.

He’s been in a hospital tank since today (when I noticed pineconing) but I think it may be time to call it soon. My biggest fear is leaving him here suffering, when is it time to call it for dropsy and do a humane euthanization? The thought of doing this to my boy is literally breaking my heart into 50000 pieces, but it would break it even more knowing he’s suffering because I don’t want to say goodbye.

I’ve attached images below. Does anyone have any advice on how long to try treatment before saying goodbye? Sending my love to all the other betta parents who are dealing with this currently too, I know it hurts so bad!
