Borderline (2025) was a delight

This film was unexpectedly wonderful to me. It has amazing performances (dude, Samara can do no wrong), some brutal scenes, and ultimately a lot of campy laughs and the ending was awesome. The filmography and soundtrack was solid, too. If you haven't given it a chance, it's worth the watch.

Upset that TV Time is being shut down on July 15? Join me in reaching out!

So, I decided to write an email today (I never do this sort of thing) to support@tvtime.com and cc'd info@whipmedia.com after learning yesterday that this wonderful app is being shut down on July 15 without any additional notice. Below is what I wrote, in case you'd like to read and create your own version of this (please don't copy/paste and send, riff on something of your own if you are inspired!). While this may not work and we all may need to just move on/find something else that works, I figured like with anything, strength in numbers can create change! So, feel free to read on. Mods, I hope you'll allow this one given how relevant this app has been for years to facilitating the TV viewing experience.

EDIT: If anyone putting in effort to post a comment here about how you enjoy the app sends a short but thoughtful email to the two addresses above, you'd be helping to create potential change. Reddit comments alone won't move this mountain! Cheers.

Hello TV Time team,

I learned yesterday upon opening the app that TV Time is shutting down on July 15, and I wanted to reach out before that happens. I've used TV Time for roughly a decade, and in my 20 years thus far of owning smartphones and downloading hundreds (probably thousands) of apps, TV Time stands alone as the one app I've always considered essentially perfect. The design was intuitive, the feature set was exactly what it needed to be, the robust community commenting on episodes with insightful/hilarious memes and discussion added to the reason I watch television to begin with, and it has become part of my daily routine for years.

I understand that keeping a free service running indefinitely is difficult, especially in modern times (trust me, I do! Ad-supported free apps largely aren't sustainable anymore). But I genuinely wonder whether the demand for a paid version of TV Time has been underestimated. I would happily pay a monthly or annual subscription to continue using TV Time. I don't need major new features or constant redesigns. I simply want to keep using the product I've relied on for years.

What makes this especially difficult to understand is that TV Time currently holds a perfect 5.0-star rating in the iOS App Store across more than 58,000 user ratings. Very few apps achieve that level of sustained satisfaction. It speaks to the fact that you've built something people genuinely love - not just use. Based on the reaction I've seen across Reddit and other social media over the last 24 hours, I am not alone. There appear to be thousands of longtime users expressing the same sentiment: we will pay!

Before shutting the service down entirely, would you consider testing a subscription model for six months? Even a relatively modest price would likely be welcomed by many of your most loyal users. Alternatively, if operating TV Time is no longer feasible, I hope you'll consider selling the platform to a company that sees value in preserving what you've built.

It's incredibly rare for software to earn this level of loyalty. TV Time did. The App Store rating, the passionate online response to this announcement, and the years of goodwill you've built all point to something special. I hope you'll give your community one more opportunity to demonstrate that this product is worth supporting financially.

I have personally tracked 23 months, 16 days, and 22 hours of television episode watching (24,910 episodes watched) with TV Time. Frankly, I have never been gutted with grief on learning an app will be shut down before - until now.

Thank you for creating an app that has brought me, and so many others, years of enjoyment. I truly hope you'll reconsider shuttering TV Time on July 15.

In honor of Lost Tavern turning 10 this weekend: what's your favorite Lehigh Valley brewery and why?

Seeing Lost Tavern celebrate its 10th anniversary this weekend (and bring back their legendary Triple Scoop: Raspberry Chip as part of the festivities!) got me thinking about how lucky we are to have such a strong brewery scene here in the Lehigh Valley.
So let’s give some local breweries some love.

What’s your favorite brewery in the area, and what makes it stand out to you?

Maybe it’s:
-The beer itself
-A particular flagship brew
-The people who run it
-The taproom atmosphere
-The food
-The location/views
- Consistently great music or events they host
-A great memory you have there

For me, Lost Tavern deserves a ton of credit for helping shape the local craft beer scene over the last decade and delivering so many amazing sour beers as it's one of my favorite styles, but there are so many great options around here now.

Curious to hear everyone’s picks and the reasons behind them. Maybe it’ll help some of us discover a new favorite spot this summer! Cheers.

Anywhere in the Valley selling ube ice cream?

I've been on the hunt for ube ice cream and haven't had much luck yet. Does anyone know of a local ice cream shop in the Lehigh Valley that carries it?

For anyone unfamiliar, ube is a Filipino purple yam. It has a lightly sweet, creamy, vanilla-like flavor with hints of pistachio and coconut, and it's naturally a vibrant purple color. It's awesome! I know a smaller grocery store, Asian market, or Filipino restaurant might carry pints of it, but I'd love to find something that's fresh and local ideally.

If you've seen it anywhere recently, I'd love to know. Thanks!

UPDATE: Called and confirmed that The Udder Bar in Allentown makes it! You all rock, thank you!

Opinions on A Furry Tail Unleashed in Hellertown? Worth it?

I’m thinking about taking my two dogs to this place (https://afurrytail.com/what-is-unleashed/) for an afternoon since it seems like something we’d all enjoy together.

From what I’ve seen online, it looks really cool - off-leash play areas, trails, swimming, food and drinks, etc. - but it’s also a bit of a splurge, so I figured I’d ask here before pulling the trigger.

If you’ve been, what did you think?

Is it well-run?
Are the dogs (and owners) generally well-behaved?
Does it get crazy crowded on weekends?
Did you feel like it was worth the price?

My dogs are both friendly and have done daycare before, so I’m not too worried about them. I’m mostly wondering whether the experience lives up to the
hype or if it’s more of a novelty. Love that they offer both coffee and beer in a space safe for dogs to play.

Would love to hear any experiences or tips!

What’s the biggest “same song title, completely different universe” pair you know?

I love when two artists accidentally land on the exact same song title, but the songs themselves feel like they came from entirely different planets.

Not covers. Not remixes. Just two unrelated songs sharing a title.

One of my favorite examples:

“Tomorrow Comes Today” by Gorillaz
“Tomorrow Comes Today” by Fury Weekend & Nouveau Arcade

Same title. Totally different atmosphere.

What’s your favorite pair where the shared title somehow makes both songs even more interesting?

UPDATE: Love how this has taken off; there are some really good ones listed! I decided to make a Spotify jam (sorry Apple Music folks, I don't use that service) in case anyone wants to enjoy...listen in order! I will try to add new songs as I'm able, this has gotten way too popular for a dorky busy body like myself. Cheers to music.

'Til the Stars Come Out is an instant classic

I enjoy all of the demos but this one is something special. Immediately felt every bit of it and wish it was 3 minutes longer than its already 4-minute length.

Beautiful song.

Review: THE THING EXPANDED Documentary is a Fantastic Deep Dive That Leaves No Stone Unturned

Pretty excited for this doc, especially after the glowing review on DD and seeing how deep it's going to go on the mythos, etc. I hope it drops on Shudder or another popular streamer soon!

Cinco de Mayo + Taco Tuesday all in one day this year… feels like a crime not to crowdsource this.

Lehigh Valley: who’s got the best margaritas right now?

Not trying to rehash the “best Mexican food” debate (we’ve had plenty of those somewhat recently; just search the sub), but I haven't seen a solid margarita thread in a while. And let’s be honest, some of the best food spots (looking at you, Mexico Lindo) don’t even serve alcohol…so this is a different conversation.

I'm looking for:

-Best overall margarita (classic or flavored)
-Strong but still balanced (no sugary nonsense)
-Bonus points if the food actually holds up too

Where are you going/sending people to drink and dine this Tuesday?

I'm going to be traveling from the Lehigh Valley (Bethlehem) to Newark Airport and it seems like Flixbus is a good option. Anyone have experiences good or bad to share? I may be able to catch a ride from a family member or friend but I'm looking into options otherwise in the meantime. Thanks!

I discovered this very prolific Austin-based singer/songwriter several years ago thanks to to his super catchy, flamenco-inspired "Tarantula" and was absolutely blown away after that by how varied his genres are...and he's putting out a ton of music regularly. He just released a 20-something song rock opera that has some really solid songs (some not so great IMO, but overall fun and solid lyrics).

I didn't see anyone talking about Bob here so I figured I'd see who else is aware of him, who may have seen him live, etc (haven't yet; definitely on my concert bucket list now).
