Alternatives to Gotham Sound in NYC - where are you getting your lavaliers and microphones repaired?

I’ve had Gotham Sound muck up making cables and fixing mics one too many times over the years, and sadly I think I'm past wasting my time, money, and potential jobs with them.

I don't know what's going on over there, but the quality control seems to be way down. A few years ago, they sold me a "custom-made XLR" with copper wiring literally sticking out of the ends. More recently, I just paid $124 for them to assess and repair a lavalier microphone (supposedly fixing the solder/terminal connector on a DPA 6060), only to get it back and find it is still very much broken.

Right now, they’re the main place I know of for these kinds of repairs and have been using in the city, but I can't keep sending out my gear to them and waiting for it only to find out it's still broken.

Where can I go in NYC to get a lavalier fixed by someone who will actually, consistently assess and repair mics/cables? Thanks all.

Update: Gotham sound owner dm'd me and is offering to help to work towards a fix for the issue so hopefully there will be a resolution!

Gifts for old timey New Yorker retired general contractor and neighbor that saved my apartment?

I bought an apartment, got scammed out of a bunch of money by a contractor and my downstairs neighbor, a retired general contractor in his 70s, in my new building came out of retirement to finish up my renovation (total time was 8 months, he was on for 3 of those months). He has been a great help the whole time, and when I was really at the lowest of lows he came in and helped.

I am paying him for his work but I also would like to get a gift for him. He was one of the original founders of my co-op in the 70s/80s and is Irish but lived in the East Village for the last 50 years. He cares a lot about the community and neighborhood preservation. I want to get him something nice that a) supports small businesses in the neighborhood or b) appreciates the history and culture of the East Village since we both really love and appreciate it here. I was thinking gift cards to local businesses, or something? But kind of want it to be more specific/meaningful and something he'd actually like. Budget is flexible. TIA!!
