new accounts - zelle workaround options
i recently opened a new account with ally. i was really excited to bank with them! i updated all of my auto payments to withdraw from my ally account and i setup direct deposit. i went into this fully committed to the transition from my former bank.
a main reason i chose ally is for zelle transfers. i was excited that they allow up to $5k per day because it's my management company's preferred payment method for rent. well, to my surprise (but not yours lol), zelle will not allow me to send money from ally. calling ally to talk to a rep was not helpful - they denied zelle being locked due to a new account / fraud prevention and they didn't see any errors on their end. well, rent is due in 3 days and they don't seem to understand the urgency of this.
luckily, i was able to cancel the massive lump sum transfer from my former bank and i will just write a check this month, but i want to resolve this long-term. how did others resolve this? it sounds pretty common after reading online, but the steps to resolve it are not clear. which department do i need talk to at ally? what do i need to say?
i also tried zelle'ing money from my former bank by requesting $10 from my new ally bank account to send to my former bank and it's sitting in limbo. i only have the option to cancel it, but cannot accept the money send. thanks in advance!
