While booking.com is just a platform, I am sharing an experience.

I was planning to watch the total solar eclipse from Luxor Egypt. I booked Abeer Guest House on booking.com for about 130 USD for 3 nights.

I sort of made a mistake of letting the guest house know the purpose of my trip. The very next day I got an email from booking.com that Abeer Guest House has initiated a free cancellation of your booking. Booking.com had no idea why such an email has been initiated and they could not do anything about it.

A few days later they cancelled my booking stating that Abeer Guest House will be closed on those dates.

But the reality is far different, when the property realized that those dates of solar eclipse are way way in demand, they cancelled the booking made at much cheaper rates and now the same property fetches 10 times more amount for the same duration. They lied to me that they are closed. Recent search for same dates shows that the property is available for 1444 USD for the same dates.

I understand businesses are greedy to make profits but this sounds totally unethical.

I have noticed this situation on booking.com. I booked in a property. Then from the booking page I was able to view all the details like directions to the property, map location and other relevant information. Now I still see my booking but the links from thereon go to ‘page not found’ as if all that info about the property does not exist at all.

Booking.com could not provide any explanation. Just when I made a random new search for some dates on same city I noticed a new listing with same photos, same location etc.

Earlier property name no longer appears in any of the searches. So my guess is the earlier property closed that account and opened a new with a new name

Does this affect my booking? While booking.com does not have any such info (i.e. if this is a new listing from the same property) all they said is booking is confirmed.

I need a bit of legal advice. Our society redevelopment project is completed and builder has issued the possession letter. One point in that letter says that I acknowledge that there are no outstanding dues from the builder.

But there are some dues say roughly 1 Lakh yet to be paid.

Now if I sign the letter as is, do I lose the claim to demand it legally? Can I add some 'Accepted Without Prejudice' line and if so how it should be worded?

As such I do not want to get into lengthy battles. Want to solve it at friendly level but still want to secure myself legally if possible. However it was kind of clear over the years that this builder is a bit difficult to deal with when it comes to financial matters.

When I booked a hotel using Booking.com (Somewhere 1st week of April) under 'Contact Customer Service' section a 'Chat with service' option was available and I do remember using that option.

But looks like they have removed that option. Now I can either Message Customer Service or Call them or Call the property. These are the only 3 options available.

Is this same for everyone? Has booking.com removed Chat option?

I am at Level 1 if that matters.

This is a bit weird but a person is using my email id for their official activities including Insurance, Passport application and other such official tasks.

So, their important communication lands in my mailbox. In one of the emails I happen to get their mobile number and reported this issue to them. They said they will check and correct their email id wherever applicable.

But now from several other official emails I am receiving their communication in my inbox. While this is either a mistake or a deliberate attempt to use my email id, do I have a case to report to cybercell?

Note my personal email account is secure. The issue is that person instead of using their own email id uses my email id in the online applications to activities like passport, insurance applications etc.

The irony is my email id is say  first.last@domain.com and theirs is firust.last@domain.com

They have just added u in the first name because first.last was already taken by me with email provider.

I notice that on booking.com same hotel is listed twice with a slightly different name. The hotel owner confirmed it when asked. I booked a room in say Hotel A and I later also found Hotel B with same photos and location. So A & B are listed simultaneously on the platform and there’s no much difference in pricing also.

So how do they (Either property or Booking.com) ensure that there's no overbooking because of 2 simultaneous listings?

The hotel owner has given me assurance that my booking is confirmed.

I am facing a technical issue with booking dot com desktop version website. When I try to access messages with Customer Service all I see is the rotating circles in the sub-frame and the messages never show up. Is anyone else facing this issue with desktop version on PC/Laptops?

I tried contacting the customer service thru mobile app (Which is fortunately working) but except for scripted responses they have done nothing further.

Does anyone know how to contact technical team of booking dot com?

From my side I tried a lot of things, clearing cache, cookies, temp files, using a new Virtual machine on Windows, using a new browser, tried VPN but issue persists. This seems to be a backend issue.

Any help shall be great. Thanks
