Is there a mobility aid for strollers for wrist pain

Hi,

I have chronic pain and nerve issues in both my wrists. Where possible I carry my baby in a carrier but sometimes I'm very fatigued or have other pain and need to push them in a stroller. This puts my hands out of action for days after use. I'm ideally looking for something that attaches to the grip of the stroller, like some kind of arm, and reaches up so I can rest my forearms in it and push with my bodyweight rather than holding with my hands and pushing. I've searched around and not found anything yet. Any advice is greatly appreciated! Thank you

Update on emergency visit with baby (all OK!)

Hi all, I posted a month ago in a panic about a horrible visit to the hospital with my baby, who had anaphylactic shock. I tried to link the post but not allowed. My baby was in a terrible state, it was incredibly stressful, and I was extremely concerned about unmasked people all around.

I know I'm a little late now but I wanted to post an update anyway, it's good for everyone to feel some hope. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for all the kind comments. You really helped me to stop freaking out.

My baby and my partner and I were all OK, no symptoms or positive tests. We did nasal rinses and salt water gargles for a few days after and I used saline spray and a nose sucker on baby.

I'm so relieved and so grateful. I'm also, of course, scared for my baby. I hope they grow out of their allergies or at least don't have to come up against them like that again.

IF we were to end up in a similar situation again, I would bring a fully charged airfanta (I keep it fully charged now, just in case), my battery pack (also keeping it charged), lots of masks to hand out, as I did, and I would probably call a taxi as the ambulance took a whole HOUR (?!?!?) to get here.

Sending good vibes and hope to all of you! 💞

I need some good vibes and hope

My baby went into anaphylaxis last night and we had to get an ambulance and go to hospital. It was the scariest day of my life, I feel like a terrible parent, all I could do was shake and cry. I am so so so glad that baby is OK, they're their normal curious and excitable self. I hope it's OK to post something like this...

I am not religious but I feel so scared about my baby's hospital stay so if anyone wants to, I wanted to ask for good thoughts for us. Send us some hope. I feel so silly requesting this but for lack of medical precautions that's all I feel I can do... Baby was among unmasked people, really for the first time since they were born last year. I am so scared they caught something.

I yelled at ambulance staff until they put on the masks I provided and we drove with sirens blaring and the window open. At hospital reception I held an air fanta in baby's face until the batteries ran out (I grabbed what I found when running out of the house but we were in a huge rush, obviously). The reception put on a baggy blue after breathing on us for 5 minutes.

It was relatively empty, thank god. I made a huge fuss, my partner was not allowed in, something else took over my body and I just started being super demanding. They wanted to keep us in the public, open room with all the other patients, I explained about my chronic illness and they finally put us in a private room. There was no window, I have no idea about the state of HVAC systems in my country (developing). I annoyed the staff so much and it was really hard for me to do but for the most part the 5 people who had to see baby put on my masks. They were just bifold FFP2s with nose wires that nobody straightened out but I find they're the most likely to be accepted and worn half decently...

There were moments where nurses were in the room for like 5 minutes unmasked while I begged and begged. Nobody had noticeable symptoms, for once.

The most important think is that baby is doing well today and got through the shock and took to the treatment. Now I feel I will spend 5 days in terror wondering if we made it out of the hospital infection-free... I am trying to be calm for baby and take the days intuitively, give them as much sleep time and cuddles and play as they need.

It is so crap we have to do this! Why do I need to feel crazy for protecting us. Why do I need to appear as "hysterical" and be labelled as a difficult patent, when I actually know what I'm talking about. GAHH. It got to the point I felt almost privileged for my disability? Privileged I have a chronic illness and don't just have to invoke covid, which in my experience makes people think I'm just not OK. I feel privileged that they at least listened and worried they couls trigger my genetic illness in my baby... I'm privileged to know this stuff and I feel so sad for all the parents who don't, I feel sad for the children whose health is constantly violated. Oof.

Fingers crossed, hoping for the best. 🧿🧿🧿🧿🧿 Thank you to this community. Please delete my post if it goes against the rules or is just too anxiety inducing, I know this type of post is frequent and fotos get too much.

Trying to set up the beginnings of a mask bloc but need informational resources!

Hi,

I'm trying to set up the beginnings of a mask bloc. I am looking for open access information that we can translate and repost with credits to the original source. Eg. videos, insta slides. I don't know if this stuff exists or if people would be willing to have us use their resources, but I thought it worth it to ask!

I'm the only respirator-wearer in the group, we are coming at this from the angle of air pollution because of how dirty it is in our region. People know about my covid mitigations and have agreed that I can take the group in the direction of a mask bloc, if I take the lead.

We want to start with information on building corsi rosenthal boxes and efficacy of air purifiers in cleaning air. Particularly because the summer months become sweltering hot and AQI can shoot up to 200--feels like the right time to talk about the air. I have one of those 440 3M Aura mask boxes, hopefully I will one day get to distributing those.

So my question: Can anyone point me to some instagram-friendly resources that we may be able to translate and share? Great things would be: a video on building a CR box, an explainer on air purifiers and why they're good for everyday pollution and allergies and pathogens, and eventually simple info on how covid is still present, why KN95+/FFP2+ masks are so much better than medical, etc.

I'm in a tiny country with tight community networks and I feel confident in saying there is near to no information on covid. My partner and I will note an FFP2 twice a year and get excited. There IS some understanding of viral mitigation, like in many East Asian countries people wear medical masks when ill.

I'm stretched pretty thin with disability, childcare and restrictions from covid mitigations, so I don't feel super confident about researching and putting together this information myself. I have a huge google doc with studies but none of it easily presentable.

Any ideas hugely appreciated!! If it's too big an ask, I understand! Thanks so much

Hi,

I'm too knackered to remember when this started, but my 7 month old reverse cycled and now only feeds at night. I'm getting no sleep--they start at 3am and finish at 8 or 9. I find it very hard to get any rest in that time, my body is just too anxious (yes, we follow safe co-sleeping guides)

We sleep trained a few weeks ago and at first that really helped, they slept longer stretches. Now we're back at 5 hours of feeding.

Nights look like this: they go down at 8.30pm in the crib, first feed is at midnight. They wake at 3am and then we end up co-sleeping--I try and try and try to put them in the crib but they'll cry (even if I try to wait it out) and once they're back in bed with me they feed nonstop. They refuse the breast in the day. I make sure they don't nap more than 2.5 hours and their last nap ends at 5pm so they're awake for a while before bedtime.

I read up a bit on what might be the issue. Baby is clearly teething, so that's one thing. They're also very easily distracted so maybe I need to try feeding in the day in calmer environments. We've just started solids, hoping to breastfeed for as long as possible.

Any advice is greatly appreciated! I am so tired and feel like my brain function is going away...
