If I apply to CalFresh with my summer job, will I keep it when I return to university in the fall?

I’ve never been on SNAP or other food assistance, but I’ll be living off campus next year and the rising price of everything is seriously harming my chances to get through school without loans. I’ll have a job this summer that meets the minimum requirements for Cal Fresh, but I’ll have to leave it in September to return to university. Will I keep the benefits for the time when I really need them, at school? Or will I need to find another job on top of school?

Edit: my job will be in Sacramento county, but I go to school in Santa Cruz.

What could my opponent possibly be doing?

I’m in a multiplayer game with some friends, and one of my opponents is driving me insane with paranoia because I have no idea what he’s doing.

He’s playing Egypt, and is my neighbor. He has the most science per turn of all of us, 130 or so and we just entered the Renaissance before taking a break for the day. He has 11 cities, which is the most of any of the human players. But he only has 30 military strength. I have no idea what he could be producing in all those cities, because he’s definitely not just clicking through his turns to get to the end of some insanely long production.

He’s an aggressive guy, and enjoys going to war, but I could probably bruise him even though I’m a ways behind. I’m producing about 110 science each turn, but I prioritized commercial hubs and industrial districts before getting concerned about his science, so I might be able to out produce him.

I’m a little competitive, and terrified that he’s doing something like rushing for nukes. He’s not the type to sit back and win the science victory. What do you think he might be up to? Should I go to war preemptively and pillage as many tiles as possible to slow him down?

Why do I do so poorly in multiplayer games?

I got into Civilization about 3 months ago because my roommate wanted to teach me how to play. He’s played for years and watches competitions and stuff, so he’d always run away with the game before I had much of a chance to stop him.

Eventually I started playing solo and found the game a lot more fun because I was actually a contender for most of it, and I managed to convince some other friends to get the game and play with my roommate and I. But now I’m on a string of boring, slow games, where even my newbie friends take off running at the beginning while I slowly grind my way through the tech tree.

Should I get more serious about learning meta strategies and stuff? I want to have fun playing with my friends but usually I’m the one to ask for a break because I’m bored.
