Filipino beliefs of giving away pets if you try to conceive

Any Filipinos here who are TTC (trying to conceive) and were advised by family/relatives/older people to give up their pets because of the belief that pets affect fertility or pregnancy?

I’ve heard comments like:
“Baka kaya hindi mabuntis kasi maraming alagang aso/pusa.”
“Delikado ang pets pag gusto magbuntis.”
“Dapat ipamigay muna mga alaga.”

I’m curious how common this belief still is in Filipino families and how you handled it emotionally and practically, especially if your pets are already family to you.

Did you follow the advice, ignore it, or try to educate them instead? Would also appreciate hearing from those who successfully conceived while still having pets at home.

Please be kind in the comments. TTC is already emotionally heavy as it is. 🤍

Does Running Affect Fertility?

I love running, and I can honestly say I’ve improved a lot. My pace is getting faster, and even my heart rate has gone down. Running has become something that makes me feel strong, disciplined, and happy.

But sometimes, I still feel ashamed of it. I hesitate to post about my runs or even talk about them with family because of the comments I hear. Minsan pinagsasabihan ako ng, “Kaya ka hindi nabubuntis kasi puro ka takbo.” And somehow, those words stay with me longer than they should.
