Please help me modify or tweak Shanghai shopping plans
Hi all,
I've been to Shanghai before but without using any guides and kind of just figured it out on my own. This time I want to get things right with all of your advice 😄
I'm going to be there for 4 days and want to plan out some shopping. I'm specifically looking for:
Linen shirts, prescription glasses and sunglasses, belts, maybe some trousers. And in electronics I'm specifically looking for a good reliable powerbank, some power conversion adapters, gym earphones. I'll also be looking for a leather-look messenger style bag.
For shirts and trousers: From the googling I've done, looks like I should just go across the bund to the fabric market and get something tailor-made. I've got existing shirts/pants I can give them to model the size off.
For prescription glasses and sunglasses: I've read about the Glasses market next to the Shanghai train station. I don't have any further details - but is this the best place to go? Can anyone pinpoint an address for this? I considered JINS but it looks like the prices are more than I was willing to pay (I'm trying to buy 4-5 pairs while I'm there and hopefully get them under 150 RMB each).
Power bank, conversion adapters, gym earphones: So far I just figured I'd check the Xiaomi store.
Messenger Bag and Belts: Undecided where best to go for this. Going to look for braided style ones and leather ones, both.
Do you have any other advice for me? Is the fake market by the science and tech museum a good option for the shirts, trousers, prescription glasses etc? I dare not go there for the electronics though.
My last experience with the fake market was that the leather style messenger bags they offered me were WELL in excess of 800-1000RMB, which is more than I'm keen to pay for a bag. At that price I can just buy them locally.
