Knight of the Waves

This is a knight I painted in about 60 minutes when I hosted a paint and take at a local cidery. I used the test prints for these monopose knights as the models for the paint and take and a lot of people painted up some really great knights! They're really fun and easy to paint up.

The first Greathelm STL Knight set is available!

The first set of STL Greathelm knights from Skull Forge Studios have hit the backers (that purchased the add-on) and is now available for all on the ITC store. (The same place you can get the early access digital rules for Greathelm).

This first set is a collection of both mono-pose knights, and the multipart pieces that make them up. In addition to that, the set contains all the pieces for the available weapons in the game, in both a left and right hand variant. When combined with the legs, torsos and different heads in the set you can create a staggering amount of different options. This is just the beginning of knight sets for Greathelm, with new ones on the horizon that fit the different armor sets available in the game plus other things, like head sets and alternate parts. Big thanks to Skullforge for the hard work on these awesome sculpts, and Art at ITC for all their hard work implementing the features!

If you're keen, don thy Greathelm and dive in! Thank you for your support!

Note: the 'red / blue' sets are simply just an organization of sculpts / weapons. You can mix and match them however. It just made some sense to get two pre assembled "warbands" right off the get go.

Greathelm STL knights???

Hey knights! Check these out! Renders for the first two stl starter sets dropping for Greathelm. 𝘛𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘪𝘴 𝘫𝘶𝘴𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘣𝘦𝘨𝘪𝘯𝘯𝘪𝘯𝘨. The set that Skullforge crafted is a 𝐦𝐚𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐯𝐞 multipart library of options that will truly make your head spin. It made my head spin, that's for sure. So for that reason I asked SF to whip up some sculpts that featured some of the weapons using 1 armor from the multipart library.⁣

To that effect, these sets are were simply made using a selection of the pieces from the multipart library, organized in a way that allow you to just hit a few buttons and print. Felt important to have that option instead of just dropping a bunch(hundreds) of pieces on people. These knights are not styled or themed in any particularly strong way, so you could mix and match the 14 sculpts to create 2 different warbands or 1 larger one with lots of options. Or even if you just want to get your paint on, these are really wonderful shapes to explore with many different options and opportunities for different techniques, like freehanding!⁣

Skullforge will be dropping these, and 𝘯𝘦𝘸 𝘴𝘦𝘵𝘴 on his patreon going forward. Each new set will be a slice of the Greathelm world and feature more bespoke sculpts and poses to represent the different knightly orders of the world. ⁣

I can't wait!⁣

In the meantime, I'm looking to have these available on ITC very soon.⁣

Backers can expect to receive these sets + many many more files even sooner. Thanks for looking! Much love.

Realm Campaign available in early access for all!

Hey knights! Thank you so much for your support with Greathelm and in this space. I love seeing all your posts and creativity. Art (from indie tabletop) has been working hard behind the scenes setting up the store section of ITC, and after dropping the realm campaign for the backers a few weeks ago, it's time to release it to all those who are interested in playtesting!

And.. I really need ya'll's help with the playtesting on this one. Greathelm core has has a lot of playtesting, but, the RC is baby. It needs a lot of love and care.

Cheers!

More Greathelm Lore!

Another fable from the realm. Greathelm is rooted in a form of magic that is based on love. We are all familiar with Magic forms that are based in the elements, like fire, but this form is based in emotion, feelings and morality. Understanding how it works is important, because it operates on a scale instead of being binary. It is a potent form of Magic, and intentional practitioners are extremely powerful. That 'power' looks different than what we might expect though. It doesn't appear like the ability to lift rocks with your mind or shoot energy from your hands. It appears in the form to accommodate, to take care of, to cultivate and provide. In this story, the Magic exists in the relationship between a mother and her children, and the food she makes for them. Because she makes the food with specific ingredients, and more importantly, a specific loving intention—the food itself becomes the end result of a love-magic spell.

In the timeline of the world, for those people living during the times Greathelm takes place, it is very understated, though still potent. Later in the time line, Witchhelm takes place, and we do have more 'high-fantasy' Love Magic practitioners... And, it's opposite. Hate Magic. Which is another form, rooted in ignorance, and misinformation, which we can all very clearly see from the world today... is also very powerful form of magic. Maybe we'll explore that next!

Thank you for reading.

Initiative diagrams!

The fires stay on behind the scenes around here, but this past weekend I took on an issue that comes up constantly. Greathelms initiative system is really unique, and very straightforward in practice. This makes it really difficult to explain in words alone!

Thanks to Sean, we got cool dice illustrations(yoinked from cursebreaker!), we have fresh new awesome diagrams! These, in combination with adjusted text explaining how things work, should go a great length to helping readers understand how it works without headaches.

Virtually everyone interprets it that way, grandfathering that sense of 'having' or retaining initiative/priority from a bazillion other games, and that has been probably number 1 question in playtesting.

Greathelm lore! A fable from the world.

Hey friends! In the midst of writing lore sections for the realm campaign, I wanted to write a fable that would be told to children of the lands. The Meadow knight is a well known and beloved mythical character, and he embodies the way the magic of the world works.
