275x4 OHP

Honestly, things felt like garbage today. I feel like I only hit this 275lb x 4 out of spite after missing 335lb and 315lb, with 335lb being a PR attempt and 315lb being a weight I’ve successfully hit before. But this was still a rep PR at this weight so I’ll take it as a win and move on. BW was 280lb this morning.

525lb PR Attempt

Really thought I had this today. Felt great off the chest and then hit a wall. You win some and you lose some. Today was a loss.

Quick 600lb beltless deadlift PR

As the title says, this was a beltless deadlift PR of 600lb. Probably the best that deadlifts have felt in a long time. BW currently around 280lb.

535x1 3-Board Press

I like to incorporate board presses to help address weak points in my bench and currently I get stuck right around the 2-3 board mark, so that’s what I focused on today.

485lb single from today

Last warm up of 485lb before I went for a PR attempt of 525lb that was not successful. May give it another shot next week, but it was nice how smooth this moved.

Overhead Press PR 315x1

Last week I did some OHP for the first time in like 7-8 years, although I’ve always trained for powerlifting so I have maintained a decent strength base, and hit 275x1. Told myself that I would be aiming for 315 in the near future once I worked out form and all that. Trying to add in other lifts that have translated well to my bench in the past.

Turns out “in the near future” was “in 7 days”.

Quick little 315x5

Had a minor wrist sprain from about a month ago from doing heavy holds that’s finally pretty much settled down but I still decided to keep today’s session on the lighter side to play it safe until it’s actually 100%. Worked up to a 5x5 at 315lb and it felt pretty sweet, so excited to get back to moving real weight again.

Smooth set of 5 at 375lb

Hit this last week after 3 days of maxing out on squat, bench, and deadlift so this was more of a deload day to just move some weight and keep the blood flowing before taking this week off. 375x5 all paused reps.

1735lb Weekly Training Total

Prepping for my first powerlifting meet in 7 years and these video clips are from this week’s training where I was getting a baseline of where to work from for the next 24 weeks.

Squat: 605lb Bench: 505lb Deadlift: 625lb Total: 1735lb

PR of 505lb

Would be 🔴🔴🔴 for downward motion but I also didn’t pause it and it wasn’t in a competition setting, so I’m taking it as a win.

Top bench and deadlift from this week

Took a break from squats this week due to some left knee pain I’m working through. So here’s one of those 1000lb club applications but just bench and deadlift.

315x15

Hit a lil’ set of 315x15 after a top single of 465lb and before a 230x28 AMRAP. Enjoying this higher volume I’ve been throwing in lately.

485lb Zercher Squat

I like to occasionally throw in different squat variations in my training to keep things fresh. Variety is the spice of life, right?

High Volume Bench Day

Wanted to see how many reps I could get at 315 across my working sets before failure. Failed right before finishing number 60.

High Volume Squat Day

Beat the absolute shit out of my legs the other day. Ended my squat session with 65 reps of 405lb spread out over 10 sets. From a muscular endurance standpoint I probably could have done more, but around rep 31 my left knee was being a pain in the ass and I was fighting through pain management for the remaining 34 reps before I finally called it. Was hoping for 100+, but that’ll have to wait for another day.

595 Deadlift from yesterday

Still working on getting my deadlift back up, still haven’t really maxed it out in a bit but I think we’re moving in the right direction.

Some high bar squat action from today

475lb single with an 18s pause (timed to Chester Bennington’s long scream from Given Up) followed by an AMRAP set where I took 255lb for a ride and got 30. That shit felt terrible.

Weighted dips have helped me move past bench plateaus

I’ve started adding in weighted dips once a week on my lower intensity bench day (I bench twice per week at the moment) and they’ve been killer with helping to break through plateaus when I’m stuck.

This was a quick set of 5 with 90lb of weight in addition to my own BW of 275lb.

Bench AMRAP 275x26

Been incorporating more AMRAP sets after my max effort working sets lately. Today was my second bench day of the week, stripped the weight down to 275 after hitting my top set of 465 for a single and went at it.
